I too, refridgerated this "dough" after combining the frosting with the cooled cake and added oreo cookie crumbs. Then I made the balls and put them back in the fridge for a couple more hours. Freezing may even be better as I found them getting soft and less easy to coat with the chocolate as they sat out. I ended up re-refridgerating the second half of the balls...but these are AMAZING!! I mixed red velvet cake with vanilla frosting (don't care for the taste of creme cheese frosting as most use with red velvet cake) and added about a quarter cup of crushed oreos. Covered them in the chocolate coating and sprinkled crushed oreos on top while still wet. Surprisingly, these-at room temerature-taste just like Hostess Ding Dongs...yummmmm!
