I cooked a turkey for Christmas and Mum was alive to witness this feat and walk me through the process over the phone.
My cooking tragedies
I burned boiled eggs once ... I also exploded an angel foodcake and annhilated its pan in a sad attempt at microwave bakery. Through perseverance, and despite not having been taught how to cook by my mother as a child because she was too busy to have kids in the kitchen, I think I'm a pretty good cook today. My boys tell me that I'm the best cook in the world, so I rest my verdict! :)
