My interest probably started while I was living in Sweden for a little while because of my dad's work. There, I didn't know Swedish so I was homeschooled - and very bored! So, to cure my boredom, I started cooking. And I loved it!
My favorite things to cook
I especially like baking sweets, but that wasn't a surprise was it? My favorite recipe is "Red Velvet Cookies", which I acquired from Joanne Fluke's book, "Carrot Cake Murder". The book is not a cookbook, it is a mystery, but there are recipes in between chapters, and they are all delicious! The mysteries are good too, though!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both my parents are from New Zealand, so we often do some Christmas baking that is very different from that of my American friends. We make "truffles" that are chocolaty, raisiny goodness rolled in coconut, and a Christmas cake and Christmas pudding.
My cooking triumphs
My main cooking triumph was when I got a recipe I had invented published on allrecipes.com!
My cooking tragedies
*Sigh* Oh, dear. The worst things that I ever cooked were, first, completely undercooked and incredibly tough beef. And second, neon blue runny cream cheese frosting. Ugh!
