Dry Rub for Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
I will never be without this! LOVE it! Only change I made was to leave out salt as suggested in an earlier review, adding it at cooking time. This is great on any meat also as topping for broiled fish. Thanks for a GREAT recipe!

Fettuccine Alfredo V

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2006
I'm not a big alfredo fan but made this because it's one of my daughter's favorites. Everyone loved it. I perhaps used a little less cheese, I didn't really measure it. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly. I thought it tasted exactly like the italian chain restaurant. Thanks for a great recipe!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2006
OMG, this is wonderful! Made exactly as recipe calls and the whole family loved it. Even my son who has never been fond of baked/broiled fish. I think it would be equally good for broiling chicken breasts. I'm going to try that soon. A SUPER recipe!

EXCELLENT! Almost as good as my favorite Mexican restaurant. Super simple & most ingredients are probably on the shelf. Thanks Denise for a terrific recipe!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2006
Pretty good for a no-fuss slow cooker recipe. Not "one of the best", but pretty good.

Hot Onion Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2005
I thought this was a wonderful recipe. It's simple and the ingredients are those you probably have on hand so it's great for when you need something at the last minute. I followed earlier suggestions and added about 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes. I took it to a party and everyone raved about it. Thanks for a great recipe! PS - Half the recipe works perfect in a pie plate. Cut down on cooking time.

Red Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2004
Yep, it's great! I forgot to buy enchilada sauce when I was shopping and found this recipe - it was WAY better anyway and much less expensive. Plus, you probably have everything on hand to make it. I increased salsa to 1/2 cup and decreased water to 1 cup. I'll never get the boughten stuff again. Thanks Sara!!!

Green Chili Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2004
It was okay - just not what I was looking for. Maybe I was expecting something with a kick - it was surprisingly mild. I'm glad I tried it but I'll stick with traditional beef stew.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2004
This is just exceptional! Can't say enough good things about it. And SO EASY! Making it in the bread machine is almost as easy as buying it in the deli. I read earlier reviews and was apprehensive about the dough being too soft and sticky but I made it exactly by the recipe and it was perfect. Nice crisp crust and soft inside, just how I like it. The only thing I did differently was to sprinkle cornmeal on the baking sheet instead of greasing the pan - like a french bread. THANKS for a great recipe.

Warm Crab Parmesan Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2003
An excellent recipe. It is sinfully rich, even substituting light mayo and neufechtel cheese (which worked just fine!). And it was equally as good leftover, cold on crackers. You could easily substitute for the crab to make a dip of your choice. A definite keeper - thanks, Noel!

Chicken Livers Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2003
I thought this was great. I used seasoned salt with the black pepper and paprika and thought the seasoning was fine for our tastes. The consistency was fine for me too (a concern in earlier reviews), but if you like a thicker "stick-together" sauce, you could easily thicken it a bit by sprinkling a little flour before adding the wine & sour cream. I love chicken livers but I think this would be equally good with other meats of your choice. Something different and a keeper. Thanks!

Mexican Chicken Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2003
A great recipe! I followed some of the suggestions from earlier reviews - I substituted cumin for the oregano and used canned chicken broth in place of water/boullion and whole kernel corn in place of cream-style. Some had suggested it was a bit thin so I mixed a couple tablespoons flour into the corn liquid to thicken it up a bit. I used more hot sauce as we like a little kick. I tasted the soup just before adding the cheese and it was quite rich. I added some extra milk and skipped the cheese - used it as a garnish. We thought it was EXCELLENT. A lot of different suggestions and variations are here, I think the point is that's it's a great recipe which you can easily adjust to your own individual taste. Have fun!

Taffy Apple Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2003
This was the recipe I was searching for! Very tasty but I especially like it because it's light & refreshing. Perfect for a summer cook-out. Also very convenient because the ingredients are all things you would probably have on hand. (I used crushed pineapple and made it without the nuts - my kids won't eat them.) A great recipe. Thanks Jeanne!

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2002
Very good. I've been looking for a recipe to duplicate what we get at the popular Italian restaurant -- not exactly what I expected, but close. I used italian sausages as suggested in an earlier review -- next time I will probably cut back a little on the meat (that was a lot)and I will lightly grease the pan before I bake the sausages as they stuck to the pan a bit. Thanks for a great recipe, Nancy.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2002
This was SO GOOD. I told my husband I could eat it every day (he thinks I'm crazy, but I could!). I took a suggestion from an earlier review and sauteed veggies in bacon drippings before simmering. I'll be sharing this recipe with family & friends. Thanks Sharon!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2002
Excellent! I took suggestions from earlier reviews -- added 1/2 tsp cumin & 1/4 tsp oregano to the sauce to liven it up and topped it all off with taco sauce (and extra cheese). In place of pre-cooked chicken, I sautéed 3 chicken breasts (cubed). Couldn't get any better - my family loved it!
