About this Cook
I'm a married mother of 3, ages 5, 8, and 15 who has become a domestic goddess. Living this life is like making wine: hardwork, dedication, determination, and a little fun and laughter thrown in for good flavor.
My favorite things to cook
I just plain love to cook. It's my gift to my family and friends. There's few things more satisfying than watching someone smile over a plate of delicious food. It's one of those really necessary but really nice things you can do for someone that shows you care.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was born and raised in the South but have fallen in love with food from all over the world. Standing in the kitchen with my Gammy as a girl, I would imagine us being on the TV teaching other people how to cook the food that touches a Julia Child, not realizing how far from French cuisine we were! Sure, I can whip up some fried chicken and home made biscuits but the fun is trying something new and exciting.
My cooking triumphs
Is there really any such thing? I've baked a souffle without it collapsing (after 7 failed times). I've learned that a little doesn't always go a long way (and vice versa). I think the triumph is in the trying.
My cooking tragedies
Just trust me when I say, I'm a member of this club. If you can successfully make a loaf of delicious crusty bread early in the day, then torch it black for dinner 4 hours later, I'd say membership is guaranteed.

Vicki's Hush Puppies
I needed a base recipe since I lost the one I fell in love with so long ago..This recipe, as stated, made more than I needed and were dry and sweet but still a little bland. (Will be perfect if you're feeding several though.) I tweaked it the second time by adding green onions instead of white and little less than a 1/4 cup of milk (I aimed for a very thick gravy consistency) salt and pepper, reduced the sugar to only 1tbsp and adding 1/2tsp garlic powder and a pinch of cream of mustard powder (the only ingredients I was sure was in the old recipe.) Turned out awesome this go round! However, if you prefer them sweet rather than savory, keep the sugar. Thanks Vicki!

Neecie's PBJ Bars
I had a lot of issues with this, same as several others. It was ok but the amount of sugar was overwhelming and it was crumbly instead of a bar. I made a few adjustments that worked for us and figured I'd share...still tweaking though.
