These just came out of the oven and they smelled so good that we couldn't wait to try them. They're delicious! I made them with several tweaks to the recipe after reading several suggestions in others' reviews. I cut the brown sugar down to 1/3 c., replaced the wheat germ with 1/4 c. of milled flax seed, cut the flour down to 1/2 c. whole wheat pastry flour, replaced the raisins with chopped dried apricots and cherries, cut the salt down to 1/2 tsp., cut the honey down to 1/4 c., and replaced half of the vegetable oil with no sugar applesauce. I also added a handful of mini chocolate chips and baked them only 18 minutes for a chewier bar. They are still plenty sweet for my taste and I'll cut back on the sugar even more next time. My 2 1/2 year old keeps asking for more and I'm having trouble staying away from them too! Thanks for the great recipe! It will be a good one to alter for variety.
