About this Cook
I've been cooking since Jr High when I told my step mom that I would rather help cook dinner than do dishes. I was oldest of 7 so she agreed. That was a long time ago. I've been married 35 yrs. I've been a stay-at-home wife & mother up until 8 yrs ago when I got a part time job. People think I love to cook. I don't. I would much rather someone cook for me :) That's life. I like making people happy, especially family. That is my motive for cooking tasty and somewhat healthy meals. I hate using box mixes because of health & nutrition reasons. I hate what food has become...full of preservatives, gmo's, high fructose corn syrup that is in everything, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pot lucks (when I don't have to do all the cooking). & Family get-togethers. I am grateful that I have a daughter that cooks as much as I do and passes me up when it comes to making things from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
Mistakenly using salt instead of sugar in 4 bean salad for a potluck. My neighbor had borrowed salt for a play dough recipe. She returned it in a zip lock baggie. I didn't know about her borrowing or returning it. When I saw the baggie on the counter, I assumed she had borrowed sugar so I poured it into the sugar canister. There was another time I made a chocolate pie and I forgot to add the sugar.

Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Perfection
This took a long time to make and I was hoping it would be worth it. It was worth it. I changed a couple things: I used frozen chopped spinach instead of fresh, I only used a couple tablespoons of the sun dried tomatoes and instead of the bread crumbs, I used ritz & saltine cracker crumbs. I will only make this for special occassions because it is so time consuming and a lot of ingredients.

German Chocolate Cake III
I made according to recipe. Turned out perfect. I've never written a review before but had to correct the many reviewers who added something to the filling to thicken it...DON'T DO IT. The problem they were having is they weren't cooking it long enough. It takes a long time (I didn't time it but it probably took close to a half hour at a slow boil). It will thicken and change color. I knew this because I have made caramel before. Same idea. I frosted the sides just so it would look better.
