Irish Soda Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
I've had people say "no thanks, soda bread is too dry." Then they taste this one. It's almost more of a cake than a bread - very moist. I've been making it for years & I'll never get store-bought again! Happy St. Pat's Day!

Carrot Cake V

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
My daughter's birthday is St. Patty's day. She asks for this cake every year. We often have a big party - we're the Ryan family - & this cake gets rave reviews. Sometimes I use the cream cheese frosting, sometimes I just dust it with powdered sugar. Either way, it's delish!

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
I've made ganache before, but this recipe was the easiest & best. I used Captain Morgan's spiced rum which added just a hint of flavor. Next time I'll try Chambord (raspberry liqueur). Can't wait!

Sweet Blackberry and Brandy Sauce

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
Great sauce! I used frozen blueberries & red raspberries, spiced rum instead of brandy. Served with Angel food cake & whipped cream. I'll try the rest on ice cream. I have a feeling a batch of this is going to be in my fridge at all times. Thank you Wilemon!

Hungarian Braided White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
This is a great recipe. I had a little trouble with the yeast/mild. I threw out 2 batches, then used an old technique. Dissolved the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water first, then I added 1-1/2 cup warm milk. I warmed 2 tbls. honey in the microwave, added the poppy seeds and brushed it on the warm bread. OMG!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I've been making this recipe for about two years. It's SO easy. I started using a 12 oz can (instead of 5.5) of Goya apricot juice and, when I couldn't find it, switched to mango juice. I put all ingredients in a ziploc bag - overnight is best, but 2 hours works. It has never failed to come out moist and flavorful. Even the grandkids like it. Thanks!

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as posted and it was absolutely delicious. It used too many pots and pans. I've revised it to use less pans - I use one sauce pan for the reduction, one roasting pan for both the shallots and the beef and one saute pan to saute the bacon, brown the beef and make the gravy. It seems to "flow" better and tasted the same as the posted version. Whenever my supermarket has beef tenderloin on sale, I have them cut steaks from the wide end and save the other end for this recipe. If I plan on company, I just get fewer steaks and a larger roast. Thanks for a great recipe!

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
These ribs are the BEST ever! I've BBQ'd them and also baked them (about 1/2 hour covered with foil, 1/2 hour uncovered). I always double the sauce - my family likes extra, it's so good. Good on boneless pork cutlets.

This is a wonderful summer punch. My grandkids love it as is. I've also made as an adult drink with vodka added.

Pizza Dough II

Reviewed: May 24, 2005
I've been making homemade pizza for my family for 25 years. I decided to try a new crust. They said this was the best crust we've ever had! My daughter, who never eats the crust, ate all of hers. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chicken Soup III

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2004
This is the best chicken soup I've ever made & I've been cooking for 50+ years! I use one chicken but double everything else. I use orzo instead of rice, but I divide up the soup first, freeze some & don't add the orzo until we're ready to eat it. I always make this the day before we want to eat it - the flavors really "gel" overnight. I sprinkle mine with a little grated parm, my husband skips it. It's simmering now - smells delish!
