Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
This was pretty moist, not quite as good as Boston Market's. I forgot to spray the non-stick pans so it stuck a little. I made it in two round nine inch pans instead of the 9x13. Served with homemade honey butter and chili mac. Yum!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2005
This didn't work well for us. It was like plain hamburger, with a nice glaze. Made it again, this time mixing in the glaze/topping part but it was overall too sweet. We will try it again, but cut down on the brown sugar.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2005
This version of the corn casserole is even better than the ones that you use a can of cream soup. I was a little short on sour cream when I made this and added more corn. I made this for a pot luck served with spiral ham and it was GONE and many of the husbands there were asking for the recipe!

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2005
The cookies turned out soggy. Not sure if I did something wrong. I will try them again and increase boil time. DH thinks they are too sweet, but the kids like them messy or not.

Elaine's Sweet and Tangy Loose Beef BBQ

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2006
This wasn't well liked by our family. My husband kept saying that it was a strange taste, not what you expected. It was easy, and good texture, but the flavor was not bbq to me.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
This was good. Can't imagine only using the amount of milk that it calls for. I think I doubled the milk using 4 tsp. It has a nice flavor.

Cream Wafers

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2006
These were very good, light and airy and melt in your mouth. It makes alot, which is good because they will go fast. My only complaint was that it was very time consuming. I used a pastry bag to pipe in the frosting and that helped speed things up too.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2006
Didn't like, cookies felt too airy and didn't have enough texture. Won't make these again and will stick to a traditional recipe.

These were really yummy! I would use semisweet chips though next time.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
These are quick and easy to make. However, they are very bland and cakelike. I increased to 3t. pumpkin pie spice and also drizzled an icing over them. I made half with nuts and half without and thought the ones with nuts were much better with the texture and flavor. Not sure if I would make these again especially with the full cup of oil.

Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
Didn't have orange zest, used mint extract and tinted the dough with dye. The consistency for the cookie press was PERFECT! Will use this again!!! Also, have used only butter and it is perfect. Instead of orange or mint, you can use almond extract too for a more traditional taste. Kids love these!

Classic Gingerbread Cutouts

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
Loved this recipe! I just tried another posted here that turned out awful and needed chilling and fell to pieces when I rolled. So I gave this one a try. Didn't sift the flour, just dumped it in. And only other change was that I used nutmeg instead of ginger. Will use this recipe over and over again!! Thank you!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
Wow, did I do something wrong or what? Dough was awful and crumbly. Tried adding water and then tried adding flour. Continued adding flour to try to get it to roll without sticking. Cookies were flat and hard after baking. The spice was nice, but I will use another recipe I found here and add more spice to it. Won't make these again.

Old Fashioned Hard Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
This was fun to try, but didn't turn out great for us. Powdered sugar ended up coating the candy and making it whitish, and our thermometer was off making it hard. Check your thermometer before starting and see at what temp it shows boiling and then adjust recipe.

Grocery Store Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
Loved this! Was as good as store bought. I had to add more water than the recipe called for and was nervous at first about it but as the recipe called for, it would barely spread. I mixed for the full amount of time and added food coloring for a cake. Will make this again!

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Pretty good! I added a little flour and vanilla and used 1/2 crunchy and 1/2 natural creamy (just nuts, no added ingredients) and they turned out well! Just after they came out of the oven the kids popped chocolate chips into them like smiley faces for fun.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
A hit with the whole family - 2 that normally don't like breading at all! I cut down on the butter a bit, and probably would only use 1/4 cup next time. My new favorite pork chop recipe!!!
