My Best Clam Chowder
SO VERY GOOD !!I modified it just a tad...fried about 8 slices of bacon and used the grease to saute the onions, celery and about 8 oz of sliced mushrooms. Then combined sauteed vegetables along with cubed potatoes and diced carrots and covered it with the juice of (4) 6.5 oz cans of chopped clams and followed the recipe as written from that point on. Crumbled the bacon and used it as a garnishment over individual bowls of chowder at serving time.

Toad In a Hole
This is great...We called them " Frog in a Pond ". My kids loved them and my Grands do also! For those that like their eggs a little more done, butter both sides of bread before cutting out the hole, crack egg carefully into hole and fry for bout 2 minutes. then turn the bread over carefully and fry for about another 2 minutes. In the meantime, be frying the circle cutout along side the bread/egg combo.It's just big enough for little hands to pick up and eat on its own or to use to dip into the egg.
