Angel Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2006
I give it five stars b/c I like the way I made it. I needed a low fat dessert for a party and thought this sounded good, but I was worried about all of the comments regarding a soggy cake. For my first layer, I used a box of sugar free fudge pudding mixed with 1.75 cups of milk and 4oz. of lite cool whip. For my second layer, I used a box of sugar free cheesecake pudding mixed with 1.75 cups of milk and 4oz. of lite cool whip. Oh, and I used two candy bars. I will make this again and a again b/c it is so light - will make a perfect summer dessert. Everyone LOVED this "cake" - even non-dieters loved it.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2005
We served these at a Halloween party. GREAT! I used chicken tenders and cut each tender into three pieces. I breaded and refrigerated as directed. They fried beautifully. We tossed half of them with the hot sauce mix and then made a bbq sauce/butter mix similarly. Served with ranch and blue cheese and didn't have a single one left. Thanks SO much - will be perfect for holidays and super bowl parties.

No Bake Cookies IV

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2005
I LOVE no bake cookies and not because they are easy to make, but because they taste so good! This recipe is a lot different than the one I always made as a kid. I love the marshmallows and coconut in the cookie. What a great find!

Crunchy Oven Fried Tilapia

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2005
I made this tonight for dinner and it was ok. It tasted like something was missing...a spice maybe. I'll use this again, but find another spice mixture.

Blondie Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
I made these a few days ago and my husband can't stop eating them. I thought they had a peculiar taste so I have not eaten one. For his sake, I'll make them again though. I added mini chocolate chips to the batch so it really tastes like one huge cookie...not really a brownie.

Big Germans

I made this for my husband this morning and he LOVED it! I made it as-is and topped with freshed sliced strawberries. Will be making again and again. What a wonderful and fun recipe!!! Thanks!

Savory Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 16, 2005
I read EVERY single review of this recipe before I made it b/c I was skeptical of using ketchup with apples. I should have followed my instinct. No one would even touch the apples and we had to use bbq sauce to cover the pork chops. Save your ingredients for something else b/c if you think it looks bad, it tastes worse.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2005
These were really good. I made six small patties out of this. I didn't use sherry, but thought that the taste was stil excellent. I did dip each of my patties in flour on both sides before putting them into the frying pan. Finally, after I added my flour and beef broth to the onions, I added 1.5 cups of milk and let it come to a boil. Then I mixed 2T of flour with 1/2 cup of milk and slowly poured it into the broth mix. Once it was thickened, I returned the "steaks" to the gravy mixture. They tasted wonderful like this!

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2005
This was such a fancy but simple recipe. I only made three pieces of chicken for us. I made slight changes - since I am on Weight Watchers, I used fat free cream cheese and Kraft 2% Sharp Cheddar for the filling and mixed the bread crumbs with Kraft Lite Parmesan cheese. Also, I sliced very thin slices of the cheddar and use a teaspoon to place small pieces of the cream cheese - I wanted them to melt evenly. We LOVED this. I had to bake it for 50 minutes though - maybe my chicken pieces were too big? Regardless, this is a HUGE hit with us and it will stay in my file. This will be what I make the next time I have company.

Mixed Vegetable Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
I was cleaning out my pantry before the new year and was looking for a recipe that could use a lot of my odds and ends I had been storing. So this was perfect. I gave this four stars b/c I made a few changes - that were well worth it. For my veggies I used two cans of green beans, one can of creamed corn, a can of mushrooms, one cup of frozen peas and carrots (one cup total - not a cup of each), and the chopped onion. I sauteed the chopped onion, peas, carrots and mushrooms in 3T of margarine. In a large mixing bowl I mixed together the sauteed veggies and the other veggies. To this I added 3/4 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup of mayo and one can of cream of mushroom soup. Then I added 3/4 cup of seasoned bread crumbs to the veggie/soup mix. And I followed the recipe for the topping. All in all, I think I used this recipe more as a base. However, the casserole is DELICIOUS now! Sorry for the long review.

Chocolate Yummies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2004
I love the ease of making these. I didn't change ingredients on this one, but I did decide to not use the microwave for the chocolate mixture (used the stove-top instead). I'm giving these away for Christmas goodies and know they will be a hit. Just one hint - they are VERY HARD to cut after refrigeration. I'd advise letting them sit out for an hour before cutting. Thanks for sharing!

Swiss Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
It's been a while since I have come across such a great recipe. What I really loved was the simplicity of it. I put it together in 5 minutes. I changed a few things. I used chicken strips instead of the chicken breasts so it would cook a little more quickly. Also, instead of the cream of chicken, I used cream of mushroom and added chopped mushrooms to the milk/soup mixture. Other than those two changes, I left it as-is. SO GOOD. I honestly look forward to making this again soon. Thanks.

Dry Rub for Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2004
I used this rub on boneless pork chops, let them sit overnight, and grilled them. Honestly, after reading all of the reviews I was suprised to find that this rub was only mediocre. I think a bbq sauce would have been better, but it's different and I had to try it for myself. Never hurts to try something new. Thanks.

Apple Stuffed Chicken Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2004
This was a great recipe for us b/c we eat so much chicken that we run out of "creative" ways to cook it. I made 4 breasts and changed things up a bit. I added some cinnamon and light brown sugar to my apple mixture. Also, I didn't have white wine on hand so I used all chicken broth for the simmering liquid. AND I used milk and cornstarch instead of water...thought it would make the gravy creamier. I only gave it four stars b/c there is a spice missing and I couldn't figure it out. SO good though! My husband was a huge fan and that really surprised me. Thanks for sharing!

All Day Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2004
I read so many recipe reviews before I decided to make this one. My brother prefers a dry macaroni and cheese, so this was PERFECT for him. But, don't get me wrong, it was still moist and delicious. I mixed all liquid ingredients first (thoroughly with salt and pepper) then added the macaroni. Also, I used 2 c. shredded velveeta and 2 c. shredded sharp. It took about 3.5 hrs. to cook - 5 or 6 is a bit much. Next time, I might add a few pats of margarine on top. LOVED IT!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2004
I found this recipe on this site about 2 years ago and have made it COUNTLESS times since. I make it all the time for family. Anyway, I love the versatility of it. My favorite combo is - chocolate chip pecan cookies, with one layer of vanilla bean ice cream and one layer of Moose Tracks ice cream. I like to switch it around though and test it with other flavors. The suggestion to microwave the ice cream is wonderful - I NEVER would have done that if it didn't suggest it. Thanks!

Mediocre at best. Funny taste. I should have saved my ground beef and peppers for something else. Thank goodness I had a side dish and bread to save the meal! Thanks though for sharing...

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2004
I am from the south and love to cook, but for some reason have NEVER made fried chicken. I liked the sounds of this recipe b/c of the creamy gravy addition. I followed the recipe EXCEPT for the poultry seasoning. I replaced it with Lawry's Seasoned Salt (which I use in practically every recipe, so it seems). I don't like chicken with a bone, so I used boneless chicken breasts. Everyone LOVED this chicken and the gravy was so good served over the chicken and with rice. I am sticking with this recipe for fried chicken. Thanks so much!

Cheez-It® Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2004
This was an excellent recipe! I made the following changes - used pork chops, baked instead of fried (350 for 20 minutes), and added cayenne pepper and omitted the oregano. It's a great base recipe that can easily be switched around. Cheez-its are my FAVORITE snack, so this recipe will be used often.

Super Easy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2004
This was fun to try. I thought I would have a real doughy mixture - something I could actually roll and cut. This is not the case. I did everything according to the directions, but it didn't work out for me. However, I was able to drop the liquid dough into the oil and fry them - it was more like funnel cake. My husband raved over these! I will make again - even though I wasn't comfortable with the consistency. Oh, we were eating "doughnuts" in no time - super fast!
