I am currently living in an isolated community in northeast Manitoba because my husband is an RCMP Officer. There isn't a whole lot up here to do but cook and entertain so its a good thing I love to cook!
My favorite things to cook
I love to perfect the cooking method of meat, poultry and fish since my husband and I are into hunting and fishing, its common to have fresh fish or butchered wild game around. But I love making desserts! I have a bit of a sweet-tooth so I use that to my advantage when deciding what and how to bake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a long line of fabulous cooks, some professional, some were necessity cooks who made their food taste phenomenal and some picked it up as a hobby because they loved food. There are some special family recipes we love to cook and eat, especially around the holidays; Pistachio Salad, Honey Curry Chicken, Sweet Potato Casserole, Fish Cakes and Baked Beans, Homemade Biscuits and Jam, Jig's Dinner.... and the list goes on and on.
My cooking triumphs
Gourmet Dips, Lasagna, Authentic Spaghetti and Meat Sauce, Deer Sausage and Shrimp Jambalaya, Moose Meat Tacos and Caribou Shep. Pie, Homemade Pizza (from scratch including sauce and dough)
My cooking tragedies
"No Cook" Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (definitely should have found a cook recipe because I didn't have any heavy cream), Spinach and Ground Turkey Stir-Fry (it was my first time cooking with fresh spinach and didn't rinse well enough....lots of sand in the stir-fry), Souffle (Once I tried this and no "Pouff")
