Country Apple Dumplings
I made these last night for a family event. I made 32 dumplings and all were gone with MANY compliments that it was the best thing there. People ate them with their dinner instead of waiting until dessert. I followed the recipe exact except for a couple small changes: I used 2 parts white sugar and 1 part brown sugar. I also did peel and sprinkle the apples with a little cinnamon and sugar before rolling them in the crescent roll. They were amazing and not soggy like some reviews stated. I will warn you that there is a lot of liquid in the pan when you take it out but that's normal and I took them from the oven and wrapped them up and we drove across town and served them about 1 hour after taking them from the oven and they tasted amazing and still not soggy (which I was worried about with them sitting for so long) I will absolutely be making these again!!!

Beer Bread I
Wow! Absolutely excellent!! I have been searching a beer bread recipe to taste like the beer bread mix you can purchase from Partylite's food line. This is the one!! I did make a few tweaks. I like it a bit sweeter so I used 1/3C of sugar AND the 3T the recipe calls for, I used Guiness beer, and added 3/4C shredded cheddar cheese. I put the batter in the greased loaf pan and let it set for 35 mins. the right before I put it in the over I poured 4T melted butter over the top...that is the PERFECT recipe for this bread if you want great flavor, perfect density, a little 'crunch' on teh outside and wonderfully soft on the inside...a real 'cozy, comfort' bread for chilis, soups, dips, etc.
