Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2002
If you like a crispy pizza you won't like this recipe. The crust just doesn't hold together. I'm going to try baking it before I put toppings on and see if that makes a difference. Hopefully it will be a little crispier. But the flavour is great!!

Meatball Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
It's a good soup. I changed a few things though. I made it in my slow cooker and used rice instead of pasta (pasta doesn't do well in the slow cooker). I just boiled water in my kettle and poured it into the slow cooker. I didn't have any oregano so I used Italian seasoning. I also didn't have any bouillon cubes so I didn't use them. Of course, the soup needed salt to replace to beef flavour. I would use more garlic too. (I love garlic!) I used 2 cloves, but I'd probably use 4 or 5 next time. If I were to make it again I would probably add more tomato and less water. I like a little thicker soup. And I also used corn in place of celery and carrots however, I think all of the above and a few more would be good too. But overall, good soup. I like the fact that I could modify to work in the slow cooker!

Garlic Creamed Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2004
This is such an easy recipe. I've made it a bunch of times, even forgot to use sour cream once, it was still great. Just a tip, microwave the cream cheese for about 30 seconds, it will soften and its much easier to mix into the mushroom soup. Personally though, little bits of cream cheese don't bother me, but softened cream cheese is much easier to work with. And of course, double the garlic! Delicious!!!

Easy Breezy Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2004
Another great basic recipe!! Here are the changes/additions I made. 1) Substituted cream of mushroom for chicken since I didn't have any chicken. 2) Add garlic and vegetables to make a complete meal. 3) Substituted sour cream for mayo like some of the others. 4) Added salt and pepper. 5) Because I had to make the chicken to prepare this dish, I only browned the chicken instead of fully cooking it. The 40 minute cooking time was enough to fully cook the chicken. I like this dish because its basic and can be changed to suit a variety of tastes, so that's why I gave it a five!!

Creamy Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2004
Its a good recipe for hot chocolate. I used part chocolate milk and part water instead of just white milk. It's extra sweet, so only for those of us with the extra sweet tooth. I probably could add more water to balance it out a little bit. But it is very chocolatey and pretty creamy. Would be great with some whipped cream on to! Good recipe!!!!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2004
Its a good sauce. Its quick, easy and to the point. I scaled it for one and it was fine. I found it needed a lot of pepper. I kind of thought it was "missing something" but that's just personal taste. Anyway it isn't grainy if you use fresh parmesan cheese. Also here are some lump tips. First, remember to let the cream cheese melt down completely. Secondly, always use a wire whisk for this. Third, add the milk slowly and you'll find it comes together nicely. Just a nice slow drizzle will do. Also for those with thickening problems I found my sauce to be a little thin too so I let it sit for a minute and it thickened right up. Four stars for a quick, easy, tastey alfredo sauce!

Cream Cheese Ranch Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2004
Excellent recipe!! The only thing I did differently was skip the butter. I didn't see the point to it, but other than that it was terrific. Suggestion: throw everything in the food processor instead of blending and mashing. That or use your hand blender to get creamy smooth potatos. I served this with chicken coated in a tiny bit of the ranch dressing mix I had left, some italian seasoning and pepper. I just fried it in the frying pan with a little oil. Brought all the flavours together! Thanks for submitting a great recipe!!

Creamy Slow Cooker Potato Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2004
This is the second or third time I've made this soup now. Here's what I'm doing differently. I only use half of the recommended potatoes with all of the liquid plus an extra cup of milk. I skip the bacon (don't like bacon) and add lots and lots of extra cheese. You may add even more milk or chicken stock. Good flavour though!

Mexican Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2004
As written, probably 4 stars but with all the fixings definately a 5. I took some of the other suggestions like olives and sour cream but I also added my own twist. I created a layer of equal parts sour cream and cream cheese which I mixed with just a tiny bit of the taco seasoning to give it some flavour. Because it was soft I easily spread it over the tortillas before I put down olives, salsa, shredded tex mex cheese mix and then the meat. I repeated the same thing for the top layers except I ended with shredded cheese. I did have to cover it though while it cooked because I didn't want to burn the top layer of cheese. It was an excellent idea and a neat twist on tacos and lasagne. Enjoy!!!

Velveeta® Cheesy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2004
Pretty good. Very quick and very easy. The only thing I did was add garlic and onion to the beef, other than that I left it alone. I've already given the recipe away and it made great left overs! Thanks for the idea!!

Pasta With Spinach Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2004
Nice easy recipe. I added extra garlic and parmesan, but other than that, it was good. Its really really thick, so if you like thinner sauces thin it out with some milk or water!

Cheese Lover's Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2004
I've eaten the tuna, mushroom soup, and macaroni combo numerous times and always enjoyed it. This certainly bumped it up a notch. I didn't have chedder, I had grated tex mex mix which I used instead. Worked out great! I also added a clove of garlic for fun. Good idea to add cheese! Thanks for the tip!!!

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2004
As written it would have been very bland but here's what I did differently. 1)I cut back on the roux like many others but found myself adding cornstarch and water to make up the difference. Next time I'll leave the roux as is. 2)I used almost 2 pounds of small red potatoes instead of the 4 large ones. I also boiled them because I was in a hurry. 3) I used half chicken stock and half milk. 7 cups just seemed like a lot of milk. 4) I used much more salt and pepper than called for. I also added cayenne pepper, basil, onions, and 4 garlic cloves for flavour. 5) I used a little velveeta and chedder mixed. 6) I left the potatoes cubed and used my hand blender to mash the potatoes after the soup was cooked. This way I got the consistency I wanted. 7) I added the sour cream last and only combined it. This way I got maximum flavour from the sour cream. 8) I skipped the bacon because I don't like it. Used white onion instead of green. 9) Lastly, I cooked the roux for a little bit. Those who find their soup is a little "floury" it's because the flour didn't get a chance to cook. Give the roux a couple of minutes on the stove over a low heat to cook the flour taste out. It'll make a difference. Hope that helps! Great soup!!!

Chicken Delicious

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2004
As written I'd give it 4 stars. It was a really easy to prepare. Basically I just threw everything into the crockpot and went from there. I added some garlic, extra pepper and a little bit of italian seasoning to mine. BTW...I didn't have celery soup or celery salt. I substituted chicken soup and just skipped the celery salt. I also didn't have lemon juice. Anyway, really easy and really good.

Cream Of Garlic Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2004
This is the second time I've made this soup. Here's what I did this time. I skipped the cream and the wine and added probably the same amount in potatoes. Then I pureed with my hand blender till I got the thickness I wanted. Good soup! BTW...made this because I had a cold. It fixed all my problems! LOL

Amish Yumazuti

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
As is this recipe would be very bland and dry. Here's how I modified it: added 2 cans of soup (mushroom and celery), lots and lots and lots of garlic and cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Didn't have any celery so I skipped that. Next time I think I might try using diced or crushed tomatoes instead of stewed that way they would spread throughout the dish instead of just big chunks here and there. It would also help thin out the soup. Another option would be to use softened cream cheese instead of milk. Combine the soup and cheese really well, even with a little milk and use that. Anyway, not bad!
