Potato Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
This is a good basic recipe. I changed some things though. I didn't have any celery so I skipped it although I did put in a little celery salt. I added a couple cloves of garlic as well. I pureed the soup instead of just partially mashing it and hid some frozen corn in it as well. I have a picky 5 year old to try to get veggies into. Other than that I followed it in terms of ingredients and procedure. Good recipe!!

Albino Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I can see how this would have no flavour if it wasn't modified some. I added basil to the oil and garlic. Like others I also added broccoli to the mix to give it some additional flavour. Make sure to have lots and lots of parmesan cheese around, you'll need it for this dish!

This chicken is awesome! Mine came out so moist and juicy it practically melted in my mouth. I followed the recipe exactly except I only made 2 chicken breasts!!

Herbed Sweet 'n' Sour Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
It's definately sweet and spicy. There is no sour to be found. I used my crock pot for this one and added the chicken with the sauce and then put in enough chicken broth to cover the chicken. I moved the sauce to a pot and thickened it after it was done. It turned out great. My husband doesn't like rice, but I think it would work with noodles too.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
It's awesome fudge!! You just have to know how to work with candy. I actually put the pot into a cold water bath in the sink to cool it down a little quicker. (A big thick pot holds the heat for a long time) and used my electric hand mixer to "beat" the fudge. Worked out perfectly. Thanks for the recipe!!

Mary's Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
This was alright but nothing spectacular. I don't like the 2 hour cooking time on this though. Not sure whether I'll use this one again or not.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
It's a good recipe. It's quite bland on it's own though and definately needs a kick of some sort. Next time I think I'll add oregano or some Italian Seasoning. I don't see a reason for the cream either. I skipped the flour and just thickened with cornstarch and water so I think I'll use all milk next time to keep the fat content down a little bit. Thanks for the recipe!!

Potato and Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Very good recipe. I followed the suggestions of many others in that I pre-cooked the potatoes and frozen broccoli I used. I topped this with a breadcrumb and cheese mixture verses salted crackers. It cooked in 45 minutes and was very good. Thanks for the recipe!!

E-Z Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I just made these to go with dinner tonight. They are extremely easy to make. I skipped the cream of tarter like many others and added garlic powder and oregano. It's a really good mix I'll be using a lot! Thank you!!

Banana Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
Good recipe! Like many others I used applesauce instead of butter. I cut the flour down to 1 cup and used 1/2 cup wheat germ and 1/2 cup oat bran. Worked out really well! Nice and moist!

Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
I think this is a great recipe. I used what I had. Skipped the corn and celery. Didn't have canned chili either. Here's what I did. Added garlic, celery salt, used homemade taco seasoning, chili powder and used rice instead of noodles. Made the rice, dumped everything else in the frying pan. Added the rice once it was done and put the whole thing in the oven. I have oven safe pots so I skipped the casserole dish. Also topped with cheddar cheese. Excellent dish!

Thousand Island Dressing II

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2005
I have been making this recipe for a long time. I haven't bought dressing in years. Don't need to. I just put a little of everything in a small bowl. Don't measure! Just get it to where I want it and go! It really is easy and uses ingredients you should already have!

Penne with Chicken and Pesto

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
Its a really good, really easy recipe. As everybody else though I modified slightly. I didn't have heavy cream so I used milk. I added cornstarch to thicken. I also added some marscarpone cheese, maybe 1/4 cup. It really seemed to bring the sauce together, mellow out the flavour a little, and thickened it a tiny bit too. I also used lots of parmesan cheese! Thanks for the recipe!

Parmesan Chicken I

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
I just made this again for the first time in a long time. I browned the chicken this time in some oil, garlic and even a little onion soup mix then I through it in the crock pot with the sauce and rice mixture. I also added some white wine. I think I'll take the rice out next time. I don't mind the "mush" but it would be better as sauce minus the mush the rice makes.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2005
It's really easy and very tastey. I added a little white wine to it and that seemed to brighten it up a little bit. But otherwise I made it as stated. Served it over egg noodles. I didn't find the meat tough at all. Just used plain old stewing beef. Didn't brown it or anything. Left everything in the slow cooker for about 6 hours. Beef was nice and tender!

Pasta Siciliano

Awesome easy recipe. It's so good! Unfortunately I don't live near a full service grocery store with an olive bar of sorts so I had to use the canned stuff. But even so, it was awesome. Great recipe!
