About this Cook
I love to cook that's why I do it. It's a hobby of mine. I probably enjoying baking more than I do making dinner, but hey, I can't make cookies and cake all the time!
My favorite things to cook
My favourite things to cook would be anything sweet. I love making a cheater cheesecake recipe I have. That one is "to die for". I also make killer chocolate chip cookies. As for the savoury side of life, anything garlic is my general philosophy. If it doesn't have garlic it will when I'm done with it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The rituals were fairly straight forward in my family. It was always turkey on Christmas and often at Thanksgiving as well. (Thanksgiving is earlier in Canada than in the US.) Ham always happened at Easter. Turkey was always served with mashed potatoes, mashed turnip, peas, gravy, and of course stuffing. And we always had Christmas Pudding for dessert. The ham always gets served with scalloped potatoes and veggies. At Thanksgiving the meal is the same as Christmas except dessert is Pumpkin pie!
My cooking triumphs
I think my biggest moment in the kitchen was the first year I made Thanksgiving dinner with the turkey and all the fixings. I suppose that probably had to be my greatest achievement in the kitchen considering the problems that some have trying to get a turkey to cook! And boy, was it good!!!
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn't goof once or twice when cooking? I've burned things, completely forgotten ingredients (that shouldn't have been forgotten) and done other such baking and cooking disasters. I call it life in the kitchen!

Tender Pan-Fried Chicken Breasts
This was good. I used chicken fillets instead of chicken breast and cooked them in oil on the stove. They never went into the oven. I accidentally skipped the ginger but I put in almost a tablespoon of garlic. They were good. Will be making them again!

Single Cup Hot Buttered Rum
Wow! I didn't have any ice cream but used cream and a dash of vanilla extract. I also just used plain old rum but what a good drink! If I'd had hot coffee I would have done that! Amazing!!

Kangaroo Chops
This is really good. I made it pretty much as written, just skipped the corn. Will make again because it's super easy. Like others, I did pre-cook the potatoes just slightly before throwing them in with the pork chops. My pork chops were small and the 45 minute time frame was enough with the potatoes pre-cooked. Because my family tends to be big eaters I made an extra packet of potatoes seasoned the same as the ones with the pork. It worked well!
