Candy Corn Bark

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
When I read the recipe, I was hesitant about making it, because the flavors and textures were all so different, but then I thought 'Oh what the heck, it has 118 positive and it sounds so crazy it just has to be good!' So to the kitchen I went, measuring and mixing and eventually spreading-- I have to say, the end product was sickeningly sweet by my standards, but I enjoyed one good bite before putting it down! Pretty darn good. My family was hooked, and I put all of the ingredients from the pan that never made it into the white chocolate into a bowl for people to eat. Inevitably, when I brought the bark to school, they were DEVOURED, and I was left with only crumbs and to bring *more* after the 3 day weekend. So here I am, putting ingredients on the grocery list for the Halloween double batch... Brilliant recipe, don't let the raisins fool you, and happy Halloween! ~Bae

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
These brownies are extremely good! When baked as directed, the bottom feels spongy and crunchy, and the top is a little crunchy as well-- plus, the middle is cake-like and delicious! I love the texture and flavor-- I also added a little more than 1/8 cup of Irish Cream Liqueur to the recipe as directed by another recipe. It gives it a very slight uniqueness and I highly recommend adding some! Thanks for the recipe, definitely a keeper c: ~Bae

Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
When I read the ingredients/name of the recipe, I have to admit I was pretty doubtful (and a little grossed out!), but this recipe tasted fantastic! The flavors blended together nicely, and the bananas added an odd (but pleasing) twist to the flavor. Thanks for the recipe-- glad I took the challenge!

Strawberries and Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
This cake tasted pretty good and strawberry-y, but there was a texture issue, and it didn't rise much. The texture was way too moist, so it was difficult to cut. It stuck to the plate I put it on to cool and the layers cracked, and a chunk of one came out. I probably won't make this recipe again in cake form, but I'll try them as cupcakes. ~Bae

Graham Cracker Crunch Topping

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
This would have tasted so good if I hadn't mistaken the Celsius for the Fahrenheit temperature, and baked it for 175 degrees for 15 minutes! Once I realized my mistake, I tried again with the correct temperature but then it overcooked... it tasted GREAT before I cooked it though! I'll totally try to make this again sometime in the winter maybe. Thanks! ~Bae 0:-)

Grocery Store Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I LOOOVE this frosting. It tastes like frosting on a store bought cake, except not chemical-y and a little different. It as a perfect consistency, thick and rich-- one of the only icings I could actually eat from the bowl ((plain!)). I really like how if you refrigerate it in an airtight container for a day, becomes mm fondant-like. Definitely the best recipe I've made yet, thanks for the recipe! Easy to ice with, but a little difficult to write or make borders with with a pipette. I suggest adding more water if you want an easier time piping. Thanks again!! ~Bae

Lemonade

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I made this at a friend's house, except I substituted the water for Club Soda (a type of sparkling water) and doubled the recipe, so it was /really/ fizzy lemonade! It was cold and the lemon to Club Soda ratio was perfect, and not too sour. However, we did have to get a large spoon and scrape the bottom of the pitcher because the sugar sank to the very bottom in an obnoxious little clump. Due to this issue, I would recommend getting a pot or a small saucepan, and bringing the 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water to a boil to create a simple syrup. Then you can wait for it to cool, pour it in and add the rest of the water (or Club Soda!) and thus avoid the sugar problem. Thanks SOOO much for this recipe, definitely a keeper! Making some again soon! Beats any store-bought lemonade recipe hands down. ~Bae :D

Rainbow Clown Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
This recipe was quite disappointing. I tried to follow the recipe without using a cake mix, and making a white cake from scratch, using only the dry ingredients that the recipe shared in common with a mix. This made the batter extremely thin-- like soup. At this point I was doubtful already, so I tasted the batter. It barely had any flavor so I added some vanilla. I made the batter rainbowy, put it in the oven, and waited apprehensively. When it was ready, they hadn't even risen 1/2 way, but they were ready. I took a bite of one, and to my dismay, they tasted like less flavorful mini angel food cakes. YUCK. So, I threw all 24 cupcakes a away and proceeded to make a new batch from a yellow cake recipe (and they turned out great!). So, I rated it 2 stars because teh dying concept was cool. I'm sticking to my yellow rainbow cake recipe though. Any recipe that relies on a MIX deserves no more than 2 stars in my book. ~Bae

Cheese Souffles

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2011
I was a bit unsure about this recipe at first, because souffles usually do not have egg yolks in them, and most of it had to be cooked on the stove. HOWEVER, I cut the recipe in half so it made only 2 souffles, and my mom loved it! She said it tasted just like how her dad used to make it, definitely making this for her birthday again next year! I'm not a big fan of egg, so she had mine to c: Thanks so much for the recipe! ~Bae :D

Tomato Bacon Grilled Cheese

Very tasty and easy-to-make snack! I didn't add the tomatoes, but the bacon was a lovely touch. First time I've ever made grilled cheese! Thanks a lot, definitely using this again! ~Bae :)

Buttermilk Syrup

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
Very fun to make-- I wasn't expecting the syrup to foam so much! I added the vanilla before the boiling by accident, but it still survived. It made exactly 2 cups! My only complaint is that it's a bit too sweet, and would taste better with crepes than pancakes. Thanks for the recipe! ~Bae

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
Nice recipe, but the batter was a bit too thick and only ended up making 6 pancakes. The batter was so thick I had to force them into circle-like shapes with the back of the spatula. They didn't taste any different from a Bisquick pancake, but they had a unique texture. These are the first pancakes I've ever made!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
I made these muffins for a friend of ours who's grandma died recently, but I took 1 of the muffins and ate it so I could review it here ;) First of all, they rose way more than the title image on this page (which is a good thing!). Also, the muffin was light & airy--almost like the texture of a red velvet cupcake. I added 1/4 cup more buttermilk, and 1 more egg like another user advised, so I have no idea how much of the rising the extra egg caused, and how much of the moisture the extra buttermilk and egg caused as well. Overall, with the added ingredients this recipe was close to perfect. Thanks for the recipe! ~Bae

Oreo™ Cookie Cake II

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
I made a butter cake from scratch instead of the mix for this recipe, and I have to say-- I'm not a fan of this cake. The chocolate chips overpowered the Oreo flavor, and I will definitely leave the chocolate chips out next time (if there is one). The consistency of the cake batter made it hard to spread the other 1/2 of the batter on top of the first layer of Oreos. Overall, the flavor was mediocre, however the texture was nice-- but that is thanks to Mary Oppenhiemer's Butter Cake recipe, not this one! ~Bae

Mary Oppenhiemer's Butter Cake

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
I don't own a bundt pan, so I used a regular 9x13 cake pan for this recipe. I was a little worried it would rise too much for my pan, because I was also following the Oreo cake recipe with this cake (which by the way, I would not recommend). This cake's flavor is fantastic, and can't wait to make it WITHOUT the stupid Oreos & chocolate chips x) Thanks a lot! ~Bae

Lemon Bread

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
Very fun & easy to make! It was fun to squeeze the lemons and grate the zest-- I made this for a friend, she loved it :) I made the glaze, which was surprisingly good for something that only has 2 ingredients in it, but decided that I wanted it to be a bread, not a pastry. I also added a tablespoon of poppy seeds to the batter upon my friend's request, and it was the prettiest lemon poppy seed loaf I've ever seen! It even had the little bread crease in the middle! Thanks a lot for the recipe c: ~Bae

Spicy Cheese Quick Bread

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
This is the first bread I have ever made, and it turned out very well! I liked the texture-- not too dry, and perfectly moist! The cheese gave it a lovely taste (and pretty orange tinge). The only thing I would leave out is the cayenne pepper, it sorta overpowered the other flavors and left my mouth hot for quite some time. BUT, I am not a spice fan, so I'm sure you spicy-food-lovers will love the recipe with the pepper in it. Thanks a lot! ~Bae

Cheddar Biscuits

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
Love, love, love, love, LOVE this recipe! It tastes way better than the Red Lobster biscuits if you use the Fluffy Biscuits recipe on this site instead of the biscuit mix and change the measurements of this recipe to a 12-biscuit-batch. The only complaint I have is that the garlic salt made the biscuits a little too salty, I'd probably reduce the amount by 1/2. The parsley gives it a wonderful flavor, however I wonder why the recipe doesn't have you mix the garlic salt and parsley INTO the batter at the beginning. Otherwise, absolutely, positively PERFECT

Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
The best snack EVER, especially for after school/work ;) Not the standard biscuit shape, but it's fun to eat and peel apart. When warm it tastes extremely good if ya put some of the bread inside on a Ritz cracker like you would with cheese. It tastes perfect when you do that-- salty, crunchy, cheesy & soft at the same time! This was the first time I had to 'cut in' my butter (I did what others said & replaced shortening with butter), and it was very easy. Apparently we own a pastry blender which made it super easy! This was super fun & fast, thanks so much for the recipe! Definitely a keeper (: ~Bae

Mother's Day Mug

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
Really good idea-- I made this with a Rice Krispie Treat plate as well, like the other reviewer here & my mom loved it c: I slathered my hands with butter throughout the time I spent shaping it. I made a double batch so we could have a mug AND a bunch of square Treats :)
