Candied Cashew and Pear Salad

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
I took this to a family gathering and everyone loved it! I did add to the dressing a little; it seemed a little too tart so I added some sugar and dijon mustard to taste, a splash more vinegar and some black pepper. The dressing appeared thick at first but thinned out nicely as the berries thawed.

Polynesian Coleslaw

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
I really liked this recipe and thought it was a great alternative to the mayo-based coleslaws. I took it to a family gathering of about 20 people and most of them turned their noses up at it so I'll be making it just for myself in the future! NOTE: I, too, upgraded this to 5 stars after letting it sit for the flavors to blend. I think it takes a bit to get used to for people who are expecting a more traditional coleslaw flavor, but this one is highly addicting! I've made it several times since finding the recipe. Thanks!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
These looked nice and tasted pretty good but were way too dry and crumbly. Some even broke apart as I was transferring them from the baking sheet to the rack. I would probably not make them again and look for something a little softer and chewier.

Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2007
Wow - this is fantastic! A while ago I was looking for the perfect muffin recipe and eventually gave up and then I found this and my search is over! I followed the recipe as written except added a little vanilla. I doubled the batch and got 6 mini loaves. Everyone in my family raved over this recipe. I wish I'd found it a few weeks ago and I would have been giving it out as Christmas gifts.

Carrot Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2007
I followed the advice of others and used 1/2 cup each of the sugars and 3/4 cup applesauce for part of the oil, and made the cream cheese a little thicker. My son refused to try them at first after helping me make them because he didn't think he liked the combination of ingredients used, but I eventually coaxed him into it. He loved them!! Thanks for the recipe!

Best Ever Party Appetizer

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
I agree with the name, this is a wonderful recipe and one of my favorites on the site yet! I had to make a lot of substitutions: fresh mozz for goat's cheese, tomatoes without oil, and dried herbs due to my grocery store not having anything I needed, and it still turned out great. I took it to a potluck and got rave reviews. Next time I'll plan ahead and get the proper ingredients and I bet it'll be fantastic!

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
I made this for a family gathering and took most of it back home with me. They were way too crumbly - would not hold together at all. The taste was just OK. Next time I will probably stick to revel bars, which is what I usually take with chocolate and oatmeal and have much better luck with.

This is the only meatloaf that my 5-year old will eat! It's definitely a keeper.

Pasta with Kielbasa and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
This is the second time I've made this dish. It has an interesting flavor from the combination of wine, mustard and kraut, and I liked the fact that the pasta wasn't drowning in sauce. I did add slightly more wine than the recipe called for. My husband and I both like it, so it's a keeper!

Banana Bread IV

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
This was excellent! I used half brown and half white sugar but otherwise followed the recipe (and baking time) as written and it came out great and not at all undercooked. My whole family loved it!
