Party Meatballs

I think it is the fresh basil and mozerella cheese that calls attention to this easy appetizer meatball recipe. It is the first dish to empty wherever I take it. It's simplicity allows for anyone to personalize it.

Grandmother's Pork Chop Dinner

I followed the directions closely except I poured off some of the bacon grease, browned the chops before adding potatoes and used 1/2 cup chicken broth instead of water. My husband really liked the dish, but I thought it lacked flavor.

Fresh Tomato Pie

I can't believe I ate the whole thing! I won't be making this unless I have company to share it with or I might eat it all again. I followed other's advice and browned the crust and lined it with basil leaves, added bacon and a bit more cheese. Wonderful!!!

Dick and Red's Bacon Clam Dip

I made this dip (added some green onions) and took it to a neighborhood social. I liked it, but at the end of the evening it was hardly touched. Party-goers finished up the crab dip, spinach dip, and other old favorites almost completley ignoring this offering. I guess it wasn't tasty enough.

Cream Cheese Corn

Easily bored with vegetable casserole recipes, I tried this in hopes of jazzing things up a bit. I added the red pepper flakes and a shake or two of prepared real bacon bits. It was a pleasant addition to the dinner table and far from ordinary.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Perfect when you want to show off! They are always welcomed with rave reviews. I am sort of freakish about uncooked pork so I pre-cook the bacon a bit. It made me feel safe.

Stuffed Celery

I had to give this high marks because I am not a stuffed celery lover but I had this limp celery that I wanted to use up and having a party to take something to... why not try it? So I cut off the bottom of the wilted celery stalks and left them in water overnight. The result, fresh celery ideal for stuffing. I may have over-measured the olives and walnuts but the recipe came out great. I liked it a lot.

Lori's Famous Crab Cakes

A very good recipe. I'd give it 5 stars but being from Virginia Beach, VA, I've had a lot of really excellent crab cakes that are hard to beat. I precooked the peppers, used a whole egg instead of just white, dried parsley in lieu of fresh and had to forego the onion powder because I was out. The cakes had a nice texture and were very tasty. My opinion is as long as you stick to the basic recipe you can alter it a lot and still have a great outcome.

Al's Sufferin' Succotash

Being low on groceries and receiving a last minute invitation to a dinner party, these are about the only ingredients I could scrape up. I guess you could say I made the dish by default. Anyway, it was a hit at the party. 1/2 the people went back for more and the other might have too, but the dish was empty by then. I used half and half instead of water and added more butter as suggested. I'll happily make it again.
