Grandma's Noodles II

This is a wonderful recipe & so simple. I used my food processor. Just mix the egg & milk together in one bowl & put the dry ingredients in the processor bowl. Put the top on,turn on the processor & slowly pour the wet ingredients through the food chute. In just seconds, it will form a ball. Stop the processor immediately & VOILA that's all there is to it! Just have to roll it out. Thanks for the recipe.

Beef Stroganoff with Noodles

OK..here's the deal. Please DO NOT use 2 Tbsp. of seasoned salt in this recipe! This has to be a typo. It's so salty you can't eat it. I made this recipe before & caught that mistake the last time, but...this time I was in a hurry & guess what? Poured in the whole amount of seas. salt..oh,yuck! Realized what I did as soon as I poured it in. I didn't want to pitch the whole thing so I tried adding a couple of peeled potatoes to it (supposed to absorb some of the saltiness...it didn't). I was talking to my sister & she suggested pouring all the broth out (just discard it) but not the meat,bacon or veggies & then rinsing all that off & starting over with more broth...it worked!! Only this time, I didn't use any salt at all & cut back on the Worcestershire sauce by 1/2. Perfect! It's a very good recipe if you don't screw it up :)

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Tarts

These are very good. I used diced ham instead of bacon & also added some diced onion. Next time I think I'll add some red or green pepper also for color & flavor. Over all, it's a good recipe.

Divine Spaghetti Sauce

WOW! This is one supergood recipe. I never used to like homemade spaghetti sauce because they were always lacking in flavor..but not this one..it's yummy! This time I used fresh tomatoes out of my garden because it's that time of year (guess I used about 10 med. size) plus I cut back on the Italian seasoning & only used about 1 1/2 Tbsp. & it was just right, not overpowering. Also, used only 2 bay leaves. With any spaghetti sauce, (even the jar stuff) I always add about 2 Tbsp. of brown sugar as it takes the "bite" out of the tomatoes from the acid in them. My sister-in-law told me about this years ago & I've been doing it ever since. Thanks for a great recipe Lana!

Irish Bacon And Cabbage Soup

This soup is great. I only gave it 4 stars because I think it definately needs more chicken stock than is called for. I was making a double batch of this but I ended up using 4 (15oz.) cans of chicken stock & that was just about right. Also, I used regular bacon & cabbage. I added the cabbage about an hour before we were going to eat as I like my cabbage really cooked & not crunchy. It also allows the cabbage flavor to permeate into the soup better.I did add 2 Tbsp. of dried minced onion & some "little smokies" sausages that I cut up & that really upped the flavor quite a bit. All in all, a very good recipe. My "soup group" loved it!

Apple Cinnamon Turnovers

These are wonderful,although I goofed on the recipe. I didn't pay attention too well & instead of dividing the cinnamon, I added all of it to the apple mixture! Wow,it was really cinnamony! But,still very good. When I make these again,I would add just a touch of sugar to the filling,maybe 1 tsp. Also, I didn't have any biscuits so I used crescent rolls (pinched them together to make 4 rectangles & frosting on top..yum!Baked at 375 for 14 mins.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

This soup is to die for! Wonderful flavor..yum. The only thing I did differently was that I added about a Tbsp. of olive oil to the butter so the butter would not burn & also, I didn't have fresh thyme or parsley so I used about 1/4-1/2 tsp. of the dried stuff. This soup has such a rich flavor to it. If I could, would give it 10 stars!

Strawberry and Feta Salad

This is a wonderful salad! My husband (who is NOT a big salad fan at all), gobbled it up & said it was great, which is a big compliment! We both loved the dressing for it. The only change I made with it was to use a very light tasting olive oil instead of the vegetable oil & it was super. Will definately be keeping this recipe.

Pudding Cookies III

I made these yesterday & today there is only 8 of them left! (Actually, I shared some with friends). They are simple to make but the batter is VERY stiff. Overall, the taste is good & they are very moist. Mine took longer to bake than the recipe stated,though, approximately 12-14 mins.

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

These are great!! I mixed the dough in my Kitchenaid mixer.The only thing I did differently was to let the dough raise once before I shaped them, punched it down, shaped them & let them raise again. They turned out wonderful! Thanks for the recipe, Sally!

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

WOW!! What a wonderful recipe..very flavorful. The only thing I did differently was when the chicken was done cooking, I put it under the broiler for a couple of mins. to kind of crisp up the coating. This is a wonderful recipe.

Pistachio Mallow Salad

OH YUM! How can something so simple taste so good? I did something a little different with this, however. I followed the recipe exactly as written except I only chilled it for about an hour & then put it in a graham cracker pie crust as a dessert. I did have some of the filling left so will serve that with dinner tonight. Two meals in one recipe..now that's a bargain!

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

This is a wonderful recipe. Served it for lunch today along with Irish Bacon and Cabbage Soup from this website. All the other soda bread recipes I've tried have been rather bland & dry but this one was a huge hit with my guests. Nice & moist with just a touch of sweetness. I noticed the picture that was with the recipe looked like it contained raisins so I added about 1/2 cup of them to the flour mixture & it was just about right. This recipe will definately be added to my favorites! EDIT: March 16, 2010 Just a note to tell you that you really should bake this in 2 pans, not one. I forgot about that, baked it in one larger pan & the middle did not get done, even though it tested done with a toothpick. I put it back in the pan, back in the oven for another half hour & it still was a little "doughy" so I sliced it & put it under the broiler until golden brown...YUM..wonderful!! Served it with Colcannon Soup & fresh fruit for dessert.

Wonderful Banana Cake

Oh my, this cake is wonderful! The only change I made was to substitute applesauce for the oil called for on the box. Makes it very moist & cuts down on the calories. I frosted it with "satiny chocolate glaze" from this website & topped that off with chopped walnuts. Excellent!
