I have always enjoyed cooking, but I felt like I really only had the opportunity at pot lucks and holidays. I was just married in March 2011, so now I have a reason to make yummy food all the time! While I have basically mastered the art of junk food, my husband is on Weight Watchers which has forced me to look at food and cooking a little differently. It's been quite the challenge, but we're both seeing the benefits!

My favorite family cooking traditions
The lack of family cooking traditions is actually what inspired me to start cooking. I am not able to say, "Nobody makes ____ like my mom!" But, hopefully, my children will be able to fill in that blank with a wide variety of foods.
My cooking triumphs
Regularly knocked out of the park- Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms, Spiced Pumpkin Loaf, Cut-Out Cookies, Chocolate Covered Shortbread, Mexican Chicken Stew, Lasagna, Pot Roast, Homemade Pizza
My cooking tragedies
I love Indian food, but I have yet to turn out anything Indian that I am willing to eat a second helping of.

Hummus III
This was great! I made alterations (I think you're supposed to, right? It's hummus), including more than a dash of Mrs Dash- tomato basil garlic blend. Sooooo good. The only downside, if you can call it that, was that the flavors were so powerful and awesome it made all other food tasteless and stupid. I had to brush 3 times to enjoy dessert later lol

Annemarie's Lemon Bars
The crust was in for 15 minutes, per other comments. I also doubled the filling, but added a full 1/2c of lemon juice. I like it sour. Additionally, I used an 11x7 glass baking dish and these came out perfectly! By far the best lemon bars I've ever had. They're usually way too sweet and not very lemony, but these were excellent. Although I altered the recipe to my liking, this recipe was a great starting point and worthy of 5 stars.

Easy Pleasy Mac N Cheesy - US Navy Style
Love this. I added some garlic and onion powder and just a dash of cayenne. I also left out the Parmesan cheese and replaced it with shredded Monterey Jack. We just love the jack around here and it's a good melty cheese. Also, 7x11 pan. I've also done it in a 9x11. Same recipe, basically. I heard angels singing when I took a bite. My only real note is that this DOES NOT reheat very well, so you should feel no guilt about eating an absurd amount in one sitting.
