About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Any type of dessert, but I try to avoid because I will end up eating all of it as boyfriend doesn't like sweets... Also like traditional "home cooking", italian, and experimenting with the slow cooker. Also learning to make my own sushi, which is a blast! I'm also learning to make some really tasty vegetarian dishes just for fun.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking with my maternal grandfather, PawPaw. He's the best at cakes, pies, breads, you name it. He also taught me how to make real hot chocolate, which is probably the most valuable recipe I own :)
My cooking triumphs
My first large dinner party several years ago. I made a homemade lasagna totally from scratch (first time) and got rave reviews. There have been others, but this one stands out the most.
My cooking tragedies
Oh so many... Divinity, ugh. Such a travesty. Leaving baking soda out cake (what a flat soggy mess),

Bolognese Stuffed Bell Peppers
This was so delicious! I did make a few changes but nothing too major and mostly at the suggestion of other reviewers: blanched peppers for 3 minutes, added one clove minced garlic to carrot/celery saute, doubled red pepper flakes because we like our food spicy, added some salt and garlic powder here and there, and mixed 2tbsp panko bread crumbs to parm.cheese topping for added crunch. This is definitely going into regular dinner rotation.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I
I was really disappointed in this one. I followed ALL of the suggestions given by others, and it still didn't turn out. For one, the cream cheese was a bad idea-I won't make that mistake again. It never fully incorporated with the rest of the sauce and wasn't smooth. I'm glad I was home to watch this one because it kept wanting to burn, even on low. Not sure what else I can do to make this one work. Will stick with recipe I normally use for stroganoff.

No Bake Cookies V
Came out great, just like I remembered no bakes. Used creamy peanut butter and omitted the salt. Let mixture boil for about 1 min. 15 sec. stirring constantly, and they set up perfectly in about 30 minutes. Will definitely make again. (and again, and again...)
