Chicken with Garlic, Basil, and Parsley

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
I used fresh basil and italian parsley because I had them on hand. I also squeezed half a lemon over the chicken before seasoning. The chicken came out nice, but needed fifteen extra minutes cooking time probably due to the extra bulk of the herbs. I used lots.

Shrimp and Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
I subbed Soba noodles for Udon and they were terrific. I went to several stores looking for black vinegar with no luck. The closest I came was Japanese plum (ume) vinegar which I used and it came out very good, but it added some salt which the dish probably didn't need. I also used honey instead of white sugar. Great recipe. I love how it cuts down on dishes.

Slow Drunk Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
I used a lemon instead of an orange and zested it first for coating the outside of the bird. I also used a hefeweizen instead of lager (lemon and hef is a natural combo) I also threw in some sweet potatoes instead of carrots and used boxed chicken stock instead of the bouillon cube. I would recommend a cast iron dutch oven as the cooking vessel if you have it. It works really well for this sort of recipe.

Raw Hummus

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
This recipe works. While it may be healthier, the texture isn't as good as when I cook dried garbanzos and make hummus the old-fashioned way. I also use more tahini and a little olive oil in mine. Good recipe though.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
This recipe makes a huge salad. More than 4 servings IMO. For the dressing, I used half the sugar and subbed out the white vinegar for red wine vinegar. The dressing also could use some salt. I think if I made it as printed I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.
