About this Cook
I am a student at Carleton University in the icy city of Ottawa, Ontario. I love to bake and play bartender, but tend to fall short on actual cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Anything baked - cakes, cookies, brownies... you name it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is a bunch of meat eaters - you can imagine how exciting my vegetarian meals are for Thanksgiving ;)
My cooking triumphs
Very impressed with my Chocolate Mousse cake I made for two different birthdays in the same week - one was my manager and he loved it!
My cooking tragedies
The first birthday cake I made for my mother fell on the floor in front of both of us... and bounced!! It's probably better we didn't eat it :)

Really Basic Peanut Butter Cookies
I made these as the recipe stated and then added 1/2 cup of oats. I was not impressed with the way they turned out - flat and tasteless. Waste of calories and I have no more peanut butter to try something else!!

Soft Whole Wheat Sugar Cookies
So I had to make many, many changes to this to make the cookies palatable! Firstly, had to lower the oven temp as the outsides were burning to 350 (though my oven isn't known for its consistancy). Also, added another tblsp of butter (which I used instead of shortening) and a quarter cup MORE milk as it was looking very dry. The dough wasn't at all sweet (I am not trying to make a cracker!) so I added another 1/4c of sugar as well. Not a fan of chocolates, etc, in cookies so I mixed cinnamon and sugar and rolled the cookie balls in it before putting them in oven. Now, almost as good as white flour cookies!

Easy Sugar Cookies
Absolutley amazing- I rolled them in sugar, and added some milk and a 1/4 tsp of salt to them. SO GOOD!!!! I also made this for a "wheel of grub" program at a summer camp I worked for, where the kids answer trivia to win a mystery cookie add-in. The cookies were able to handle all sorts of extra stuff thrown in- honey, chocolate, raisins, etc.
