It's That Time of Year Again... Bye Bye, Alaska! Hello, SoCal!

I have been at my wits' end!

How can I nab Lena, my Maine Coon Cat, and get her to the vet for her pre-flight health certificate check-up?  I swear, that cat MUST be reading my mind.  There are places in this apartment she knows she can cram herself into where I cannot reach her.  And today, I've had to delay my trip out due to just not being able to get everything done in a timely fashion.  This Addison's Disease (no adrenalin from the adrenal glands) is really kicking my butt!

So... I think I'll just do what I do best -- grab her and stuff her in her cat crate.  I normally don't use a cat crate for simple traveling, but this time, I must.

This trip, I need to drive to San Diego and pick up some antique Tiki mugs for a friend, now customer.  He wants me to design him a great indoor tiki wet bar with all the trimmings.  And he's bought some tiki mugs from the Tiki Farm, and needs them couriered up to Alaska because costs are phenomenal.  However, I found a great wine tote which you can pack up to twelve bottles of wine and check that in as part of your regular luggage, and it does protect your wine from damage during the flight.  GREAT!!!  I'll pack the tiki mugs this way!  And if there is space, I'm picking up some liquors from BevMo! and Trader Joe's for the trip back!  Maybe I'll see if Brea has a meadery...

Oh yes!!!!  And I am most definitely going to Jasmine's, this GREAT dim sum restaurant while I am in San Diego!  I've been there twice, and what a place!!  Just get there EARLY, or by ten o'clock, it's already full and you'll be waiting!

About Me
I have lived many places, including Amish Country in Ohio, but Alaska is the place I adore. I get all my seafood from Peninsula Seafoods, including wild white King Salmon, and King Crab at $9.95 a pound! I love the summers where it is just around sunset all night long! And on the Summer Solstice, we'll either stay up all night with the Dragon Drummers or go fishing in the middle of the night. In the Winter, we hibernate and eat comfort food.
My favorite things to cook
I LUV to grill! I'll grill all the veggies in my house once I get my charcoal grill going. I also love Asian cooking, especially Japanese, but Kalbi is my all-time favorite meat to grill.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother on my mother's side left me a lot of her authentic Slovak recipes which I adore. I also tried to learn as much from my Uncle Bob who is a chef extraordinaire.
My cooking triumphs
Anything seafood and noodles. In fact, I make my own pasta because it tastes so much better and soaks up the flavors of my sauces.
My cooking tragedies
Lately, I really screwed up meatloaf. And some goolash I recently did. Yuck!!! How can anyone mess up on these two entrees?? I guess I can...
