This is a great recipe, much like my mother made. In those days there were no non-stick skillets, so a table fork was the best stirrer to mix the flour and grease (yes, bacon!) We didn't measure anything --it's just important to use approximately the same amount of flour as grease, but be sure to have enough grease to make it smooth. Then stir briskly as you add the milk (or milk and water). Turn the heat low. When it thickens, turn the heat off, and add more liquid if needed for your consistency. My brother still expects biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs when he comes to visit.
