Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
The dough for this pizza crust turned out SO NICE! I heated my pizza stone in the oven first and floured my hands and rolling pin and formed the edge into a sturdy crust you could really hang on to. The texture was incredible and was a nice compliment to the veggies I sliced thin with a mandoline. The beer I used was an Alexander Kieth's India Pale Ale, but next time I would like to try a more "stout" beer. Hmmm, there is more sauce, pepperoni and cheese in my fridge... guess I'll need to get to the LC and try it again in a couple days!

Flaky Food Processor Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
My first time making pie crust was using this recipe. I did as another reviewer suggested and put my butter and shortening in the flour and put the whole bowl in the freezer to chill. It didn't turn out pretty, but it was freaking delicious!! I need to make this a few more times because I'm sure with practice, it'll get better! I didn't once touch the dough with my bare hands as suggested and I'm glad because I can see how it could change the dough!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
So I monkeyed with the ingredient amounts a bit to suit the preferences of my family, but the basic "bones" of this recips are perfect the way they are. I double the topping and put everything in a big 9x13 casserole dish. Try this... play with the amounts. You will love it too!

White Bread II

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
My husband decided to search the internet for a bread machine recipe that he wanted to take on himself and he came across this one. I have to say, we LOVED it! It was perfectly soft and tender and the crust was a lovely texture. It has been suggested that this will be made many many many times in the future! :) Thank you for this recipe!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I love love love this sugar cookie recipe. I have made it multiple times and it's a consistantly delicious cookie. I have used various cutters to make seasonal shaped cookies and no matter how delicate the shape, these always tuen out lovely. Chilling the dough is key IMO. Makes the dough super manageable... have also brought this tidbit into all other cookie recipes with great results!

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
If these had seemed like they had peanut butter in them, they might have been better liked. The person I made them for said they were an allright cookie but not much pb flavour. I was equally unimpressed. They aren't *bad* they're just not very good. That being said, I put most of the batch in the kitchen at my office and the staff gobbled them all gone in no time. I guess they must appeal to some folks!

Split Pea and Ham Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Good soup. I didn't use a ham bone but rather I used a freezer bag full of chopped ham from some long-past dinner. Very hearty. My husband doesn't eat the stuff so I have frozen some for future meals (mmmm lunch!) and given some to my best friend whose toddler thinks its awesome!

Caramel Pretzel Nut Popcorn

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
Sooooo yummy! I left out the peanuts as I only had the popcorn & pretzels in the house when the craving struck! And if I hadn't left it in the oven too long to get it crispy, it would have been amazing! Ha ha ha! I think that another reviewers suggestion of drizzling a little bit of melted chocolate would have added that extra bit of satisfaction. And ladies... this makes an awesome PMS snack! :)

Soft Molasses Cookies V

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
These were wonderful little cookies! I added a bit more spices as previous posters suggested and loved the flavour. I rolled the dough into the balls as suggested and rolled them in granulated sugar. Flattened the balls with 3 fingers on a parchment lined cookie sheet. They turned out AMAZING and were gobbled up by everyone at the event I took them to! They will totally be made again (and again and again!)

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
I found the spices very overpowering and I absolutely love Chai. Perhaps fiddling with the amounts of each spice is the key. Until then I am off to Starbucks for my Chai!

Eggplant Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2004
ooooh this did not turn out for me! It was so disaterous that we have decided to enjoy eggplant when ordered out from now on. But for those of you who have more kitchen success, I'd suggest reducing the broiling time a bit, my eggplant was a bit... excessively crispy :)

Nana's Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2004
SO delicious! I did the 1/2 brown sugar, 1/2 white sugar an the topping was fabulous! My little apartment smelled like my Granny's kitched used to for hours last night! **Tip for those who like to bake with apples a lot... Get thee an apple peeler!! I got mine for Christmas and it is quickly become an invaluable kitchen tool. Perfect for those who like to bake with apples, or those who have children who enjoy a peeled apple snack. The Starfrit peeler is inexpensive and I find works perfect... it sure saves time!

Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2003
This was a bit hit at my house. The apples were the perfect consistancy. Didn't have ground cloves, so I used my mortar & pestle and ground up whole cloves... very strong taste! Next time I'll thicken the sauce. The flavours go well with steamed green beans too!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
I used mostly regular prepared mustard and made up the difference with dijon. The chicken was INCREDIBLE! Nothing short of perfect. It was outstanding as leftovers too! Depending on your taste, you can play with the balance of mustard to honey and it will turn out no matter what!

Overall good flavour, but a little disappointing. The barley more or less took over.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2002
First of all, this was a BIG hit! The slow cooker is best for big meals, but since I cook for two, I adapt most of the recipies to be smaller. In the case of this OUTSTANDING meal, I used 8 small pork chops so they'd be easier to heat up for leftovers. I served it along with mashed potatoes, honeyed carrots and sweet peas. Will definately make over and over. PS - the gravy is super over french fries!
