I made this appetizer at a Superbowl party as a healthier alternative to the wings, fried food, chips & dip that crowded the rest of the table. To my surprise, the fruit salsa went the fastest! My guests loved it! I fancied it up a bit by putting the fruit in a hollowed out pineapple half. It not only tasted great- it looked nice too! There are lots of variations you can use with this recipe, but I find harder tropical fruits that are easy to chop into small bits work the best (Mango, pineapple, strawberries, kiwi, guava, papaya etc...) Apples go brown too quickly, bananas are too mushy and berries are too hard to chop into small bits. I wanted it to be finely chopped to make it easier to pick up with the yummy cinnamon chips.
