Sensei's Crusty Crumbled Blue Cheese Steak Topping

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2013
I made this topping as written for two filet mignons wrapped in peppered bacon instead of ribeye steaks. It was outstanding! The blue cheese, horseradish, bread crumbs, and butter made an excellent combination of flavors with the bacon and steak. I will definitely make this recipe again. There is no need to spend outrageous sums of money going out for a steak dinner when you can make this dish for less and it will likely taste much better than the restaurant. Thanks for sharing Ski Mom.

Oven Fried Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
This was a very good and very easy recipe. Because we like lots of flavor, I increased the amounts of garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to about a 1/2 teaspoon each and added some dried minced onion to the bread crumbs. Also, I made my own seasoned bread crumbs by adding a couple of teaspoons of italian seasoning to plain panko bread crumbs. The panko bread crumbs make the chicken really crispy. Also, I place the chicken on a baking rack inside of a foil-lined baking sheet so that air can get below the chicken and keep it crisp on all sides, including the bottom. I also spray the chicken with cooking spray to help the chicken stay crisp.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
The filling is definitely 5 stars. I'm only rating the filling because I could not get my tortillas to roll. So I just used the filling and corn tortillas to make tacos. The filling tasted great.

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I made enough to take to a Christmas Eve party and our family Christmas dinner. Everyone liked them. I used the Fiesta ranch seasoning mix and left out the celery. They tasted better the second day after they stayed in the fridge overnight. Thanks for an easy, tasty, make ahead recipe.

Cran-Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
This slaw was very good and very well received by everyone at Christmas dinner. I had read the previous reviews and made the recommended tweaks. First, I made this slaw the day before and that really brings out the flavor. The broccoli slaw remained crisp and did not get soggy. It also made it so easy for Christmas dinner because that was one less dish that had to be cooked or prepped. Secondly, I used white balsamic vinegar so it would not turn brown. I reduced the oil from 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup because other reviewers had said it was too oily. I used olive oil instead of canola oil because i thought it would taste better in this dish. I increased the maple syrup (use the real stuff only) from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon to increase the sweetness that other reviewers said it lacked. Also I used honey roasted pecans and almonds which also added a little sweetness as well as crunch. With the tweaks, it tasted great. Making it a day ahead really made it very easy as well. I recommend giving this recipe a try. Next time I might add a little crumbled blue cheese or feta. I think either of those would taste great with these ingredients.

Spanish Potato Omelet

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2012
Sometimes the best recipes are the easiest. This is one of those. Just a few ingredients with a lot of taste. Eggs, potatoes and onions with a little salt and pepper. I didn't have any tomatoes so I put some salsa on top. Very tasty and very easy. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Bread Pudding with Praline Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2012
OMG! I think I have died and gone to heaven eating this fantastic praline bread pudding! It is awesome! And it tastes great either hot or cold. It was so easy to make. I halved the recipe and otherwise followed the recipe except I used walnuts instead of pecans just because that is what I had on hand. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipe.

Easy Maple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
This pork chop recipe is easy and delicious! I made the sauce as stated and I added seasoned salt and black pepper to the pork chops before browning them in the skillet. Since my pork chops were only about a 1/2 inch thick instead of an inch thick, they were ready after baking only about 20 minutes. I recommend using a casserole dish just large enough for the pork chops so the sauce will cover the pork chops. If the pan is too large the sauce will spread out too thin and not cover the pork chops. We will definitely be making this recipe again. Thanks for sharing.

Nana's Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
This was very easy and very good. I used all the ingredients with the exception of leaving out the mushrooms since I didn't have any. After sautéing the beef and onions I put everything in a slow cooker for about 3 hours and added the sour cream at the end. It was a good comfort food dinner.

Easy Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
My hubby loved this! It was delicious and easy. I made it as written with the exception that I didn't have a 9" springform pan. I put it in a cake pan I had and it finished baking in about 30 minutes. Very good coffee cake.

Cranberry and Almond Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
Excellent recipe! It is easy and tastes awesome! I really like the flavor that the cranberries add to the pilaf. I did not have jasmine rice. I used the generic long grain rice I had on hand and it turned out great. I will definitely make this again.

Eggnog Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
I liked the idea of this for a Christmas breakfast. It tasted good. However, the pancakes were very heavy. A little bit goes a long way. I followed the recipe, except added an additional teaspoon of baking powder per another reviewer's recommendation. It is nice for an occasional change of pace. Thanks for sharing.

Chicken Ranch Dijon

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
Loved this dish! My husband said this dish tasted great and I could make it anytime. I did tweak it a little since we like bold flavors, I added blackened seasoning to the chicken instead of just salt and pepper. Also I used light ranch dressing. I didn't measure and estimated the amounts of dijon, ranch dressing and white wine in the sauce. I probably added a little more white wine and a little less dijon. After tasting the sauce it was really tangy so I added about a tablespoon of sugar to offset that and it was perfect. This is such a wonderfully delicious and easy recipe. We will be making it again. Thanks for sharing.

Bar Chicks - Blackened Chicken Sliders

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
Delicious chicken sliders! Messy but yummy! They had a great flavor although, not for the faint of heart when it comes to spice. One cup of white wine would have been plenty for the marinade. I only marinaded about 4 hours and it was still delicious. I'm sure it would be even better if it marinated overnight. The blackened seasoning was salty and spicy. I like a medium level of spiciness and next time I would cut cayenne in half as well as the salt. I served these on small onion rolls with arugula and sliced tomatoes.

Pumpkin Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
This was excellent. I followed the base recipe but tweaked it by increasing the pumpkin pie spice to 4 teaspoons and added cinnamon chips instead of walnuts. I added a glaze made of confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla. Delicious.

Authentic Pad Thai

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
I was a little nervous while making the recipe because it did not seem like it would taste like the pad thai I loved at a local restaurant. Those fears were set aside once I tasted it because it was delicious. The only thing I would do differently next time is maybe add a little crushed red pepper or cayenne.
