Six Flavor Glaze

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
I used this glaze to top my lemon cake but I added some powdered sugar to give it a "crust" that stayed on top. I used a lemon juice curd to enhance the lemon flavor. Not a fan of rum or butter but the others blended well and sweetened the cake!

I added some orange oil to the recipe. It makes a tangy frosting.

Chocolate Mocha Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
This is a delicious cake recipe. Moist and chocolatey and cooks up well for cupcakes and for cake. I used a Fudge Frosting and infused it with a slight cherry cream flavor. Nice combination.

Meringue-Topped Spice Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
The cupcake is delicious but I used my Orange Buttercream frosting instead of the meringue. Tasty. I wanted a cake that wasn't heavy like pumpkin (which I love) but Summer calls fro a lighter cake. :)

Golden Orange Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I used all orange juice and orange oil and left out the egg yolk. Not wanting to use it. This tastes heavenly on spice cake.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
Onion and pecans were added to this first try. There's a little bit of cheese crumbles and balsamic dressing. I had this once and thought it tasted delicious. Croutons round out the flavors.

Cake Pops

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
These Mocha Cake pops were made into a bouquet. The cake is mocha with coffee melts, vanilla topped with chocolate jimmies. I tried donut holes, but the light holes tore through the stick when I put on the candy melts. HA HA HA! Maybe I should have used the cake donuts. :)

Lite Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
This recipe made into great cupcakes. I am not a fan of chunks of carrot so I chopped them almost into a puree. It (they) were delicious. I formed the carrot out of a candy chew and the stem is a candy coated sunflower seed. FUN!

Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I didn't use the milk because the frosting was already thin ... I used all the 4 cups of powdered sugar and then put it in the fridge to solidify a bit. The taste was great. I did add 6 oz of cream cheese because it tasted a little like buttercream.

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
I read the advice on several of the reviewers notes and decided to try another flavor. I used Coconut Cream instant pudding and Coconut Milk (half the milk for thickness) and omitted the vanilla because the flavor was already there. It came out a good consistency and combined nicely with the red velvet cupcake. I will try other flavors and definitely use this easy recipe again. It does hold up in the fridge and tastes yummy!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
This is my first time making the cake pops, so I used a vanilla cake and my own cream cheese frosting. I wanted them to look like an old fashioned soda counter treat. It was time consuming but lots of fun. The topper is a chocolate sixlet and I used the candy melts from the craft store. One problem I had in the beginning was I took the chilled cake balls and dipped them in the heated melts and they cracked when they cooled. So I guess you need to let the coating and balls sit before dipping. You live and learn. We enjoyed eating these as much as making them.

Sour Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
I liked how this recipe tasted and it baked well. I used butter for flavor instead of shortening. I added egg whites plus one egg. It came out fluffy and lite without being too sweet.

New Duchess Spice Cake with Maple Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
I love spice cake and made these birthday cupcakes for a friend. I used a real maple butter cream with egg whites so I could make them look like ice cream scoops on top of the cakes. The glaze was simply powdered sugar and maple flavoring with a touch of food coloring to caramelize it's look. They came out so great I will be using this again, especially when the holidays come. They would taste great with eggnog.

Root Beer Float Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
The cake recipe is fine, but I used a tsp of Root Beer Soda Flavoring and it was more flavorful. I made the glaze and added a scant amount of root beer flavoring to darken the color. Delicious! Stabilized Whipped Cream for the frosting to top it all off. all in all a hit with the family!

Root Beer Float Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
I wanted a true flavor and I got it with a few tweaks to this recipe. I used BC Moist White Cake mix and added two teaspoons of Root Beer flavoring and combined two Root Beers ... A&W and Barq's to make up the flavor I wanted. I also dropped a touch (1 tsp) of Root Beer soda flavoring into the cake mix to color the batter and the cupcakes came out with the best flavor and color of any of the RB recipes I tried. Normally the first batch I make cooks slightly smaller than the second, but in this case, they cooked exactly the same. I will definitely be making this recipe again and again. Thank You Tammy!
