My favorite family cooking traditions
Spatzle every holiday!! Every year at apple season my sister, mom and I get together and make apple pies, apple sauce and apple butter. We probably can 40-50 quarts of sauce, 40-50 pints of butter and 20-30 pies. We have added my sisters daughter, since she's old enough now and have also added my future sis in law. She doesn't cook much but my brother is showing her the way :)
My cooking tragedies
Liver pate for a job interview at a caterer's back in the 80's. Needless to say I didn't get the job and have never tried to make it again. It's nasty.

Amish White Bread
This is my "Go To" white bread recipe. I make 3 or 4 loaves a week for my family. I also roll the dough out to about 1/2" thick and spread melted butter, sugar and raisins, then roll it up. I've been baking bread for 40 years and this is the best basic bread recipe. So much you can do with this dough. Sometimes I add a little more salt and less sugar or honey. Sometimes I put the water, yeast, sugar or honey plus one cup of the flour in to the mixer and mix it, then leave it for 20-30 minutes until doubled. I will then add 1 tsp more yeast, the oil, salt and flour, mix and let it sit another 20 min. I take it out onto my counter and knead until smooth, then follow the rest of the directions.

Apple Butter Pork Loin
Absolutely the best Pork Loin recipe I have ever used. The meat fell apart(tender) and the gravy made from the juices was outstanding! What great flavor! Thanks for sharing this UMich97!
