Above average home cook, now living in Mexico in the South Pacific .... on the ocean. (Because I can afford to live here for one thing)... Now trying to learn to cook lots of different fishes and shrimp which are abundant here
My favorite things to cook
I still love many USA favorite comfort foods. Never tire of anything with cheese in it. But, also having lived long ago in France I love the basic French dishes that I learnd there, such as quiche, onion soup, cream carmel....Alsase Lorraine favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Origionally from Oklahoma, lots of beans, various kinds, corn bread, and a few American Indian dishes
My cooking triumphs
I have a small B&B here in Mexico and love preparing breakfast for guests.....Usually recieve raves....again, the quiches are a success, and healthy oatmeal pancakes,or waffles....very different from normal Mexican fare.
My cooking tragedies
oh Wow!...attempts at making tortillas ....a mano....by hand...still do not have the knack! lol. they break and look more like oval disks.....also trying to bake here in Mexico.....think it is the heavy flour and not many people here even have ovens ..so this is not important to them.....but to have a banana bread end up about 1and half inches high and hard as a rock is not good
