Bourbon Pecan Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
a dish to impress guests for sure. The only thing i did differently was triple the sauce recipe and served over wide egg noodles. I didn't have bourbon so i used templeton rye whiskey. don't know how that affected the flavor but it was awesome. the sauce gets better over time, so if you can make the sauce a day in advance it will be really good. not really sure why the recipe is so specific about how to add the butter to the sauce because i just threw it all together and it was great.

Schweine Ohren (Pig's Ears)

very simple and delicious. i drizzled with some icing. make sure to get these off the baking sheet as soon as they come out of the oven or else they will become permanently 'glued' to your baking sheet. i bet they would be good with cinnamon and sugar too.

Ratatouille

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
I am a vegetable hater and this is amazing! I used acorn squash instead of eggplant and added some feta cheese in addition to the parmesan and breadcrumbs on top and i cooked it for about an hour and a half. I found mushrooms, onions, and peppers that were already sliced, but it still took some time to chop the rest. totally worth it!

Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
yum yum. i thought this soup would be bland but it was really tasty. Must be the gravy mix that seasons it up. I wasn't sure how many potatoes makes 3 cups so i just used 5 or 6 of those little yukon gold guys. I suppose you could add more or less and it would still be great. Pair it with a yummy bread machine bread and you've got a great cold weather meal!

Overnight Bubble Bread

i leave out the pecans and cut the dinner rolls in half. I would say I about double the butter and brown sugar. This makes them very gooey and sticky. YUM!

Easy Beer Bread Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2004
This bread is so good. I leave out the spices and poke the dough with a knife in several places after pouring the melted butter over the top. I love the nice crunchy top.

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2004
I love these little guys. I have to process down to a science. I totally skip the chopping of the stems and cooking them up with garlic. I just throw out the stems. A little trick to keep them from sliding all over the tray is to pop the cookie sheet in the freezer for a few minutes. then after you fill the mushrooms, dip the bottom of the mushroom in melted butter and it will stick to the tray. magic!

Caramel Crispy Treats II

These are so easy to make. I added a cup of salted peanuts and they were really good. I left off the melted chocolate chips because they were already pretty chocolatey. YUMMY!

Mexican Layered Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
I love this recipe because you can change it to include or delete ingredients. For example, I use salsa instead of chopped tomatoes, and I leave out the olives and guacamole. I bring it to football tailgates and everyone devours it! I can never seem to make enough of it. I have even started making double batches!

I took these to a tailgate party and they were gone in minutes! I used a devil's food cake mix instead of the German chocolate cake mix and they turned out great. better the 2nd day if you can wait that long, they get chewier.

Taste of Home Butterfinger Cookies

Reviewed: May 13, 2002
My family just raved about these cookies. Make sure not to overbake them. Chopping up the candy bars was time consuming, but well worth it. I prefer chopping them into larger chunks(1/2"-1"), but you could use Butterfinger BB's if you are short on time.
