I am married with 3 children and my husband and I both enjoy cooking. I've got shelves (and shelves and shelves!) of cook books, but I always seem to go to the internet for recipes first.
My favorite things to cook
I can usually be counted on for something sweet. I enjoy cooking healthy dinners for my family, but pull out all the stops when it comes to dessert!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I can't remember any real traditions in my family. Trying to create more by getting my kids to help out in the kitchen. My youngest daughter (8) loves to slip on her apron and help me cook!
My cooking triumphs
I love it when people ask me for my recipes. I love it even more when I share my recipe, and they say, "Oh, there's NO way I could ever make this!"
My cooking tragedies
I once spent the majority of an evening baking and decorating a cake for a friend's baby shower. It was a gorgeous creation in the shape of a carriage, with detailed piping decoration. I was just putting on the finishing touches when my 4-year-old daughter came in the room, and grabbed the top of the cake to turn it towards her, saying, "Ooh, pretty!" It was so nice, she hadn't realized it was cake. LOL I managed to fix that mishap, only to drop the box on the way out to my car, damaging the cake beyond repair. Luckily, I had all the ingredients for "Better than 'You-know-what'" Cake in my cabinets, so I was able to whip up a tastey replacement. It wasn't nearly as pretty as my baby carriage masterpiece, though!
