I'm 17 and have been baking from mixes, with the occasional scratch recipe for ages. This year I decided to learn how to cook for real so when I go to college next year and beyond I can make more than the basic pasta or sandwich. All recipes I post or save are ones that I have used and have worked for me.
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved baking desserts. As I said before, it used to be from mixes, but now I'm exploring the raw ingredients. So far, I've absolutely LOVED making cake balls (from this site's recipe)... and enjoyed eating them too :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Up until recently my family never had time to eat together. We all grabbed whatever looked good out of the fridge and ate when we were hungry. Now that I'm cooking actual dinners, we have family dinner time most every night!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I baked herb chicken, it came out GREAT!
My cooking tragedies
I made peanut butter cookies today, they sort of tasted okay... but too sugary blech :(
Once I used the wrong apples for an apple pie (ie really crisp apples that taste good... just not in a pie)
