About this Cook
1/9/11 I'm 17 and have been baking from mixes, with the occasional scratch recipe for ages. This year I decided to learn how to cook for real so when I go to college next year and beyond I can make more than the basic pasta or sandwich. All recipes I post or save are ones that I have used and have worked for me.
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved baking desserts. As I said before, it used to be from mixes, but now I'm exploring the raw ingredients. So far, I've absolutely LOVED making cake balls (from this site's recipe)... and enjoyed eating them too :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Up until recently my family never had time to eat together. We all grabbed whatever looked good out of the fridge and ate when we were hungry. Now that I'm cooking actual dinners, we have family dinner time most every night!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I baked herb chicken, it came out GREAT!
My cooking tragedies
I made peanut butter cookies today, they sort of tasted okay... but too sugary blech :( Once I used the wrong apples for an apple pie (ie really crisp apples that taste good... just not in a pie)

Eggless Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
Somehow Christmas Eve came around and I didn't have any cookies for Santa... I scaled this recipe down to 2 servings and got 8 small cookies out of it. I was skeptical (because of no eggs and scaling down a recipe is always tricky...)! I used about 1/16 tsp each of baking soda, powder, and salt. I definitely used more cocoa powder and PB than the recipe called for, but I'm a personal fan of both :) They came out of the oven and OH MY GOSH! I wasn't really expecting to be able to taste the chocolate or PB, but it was SO GOOD! Oh, and I mixed the cocoa powder with the dry ingredients, not the butter!

Never Fail Chocolate Chip Cookies
As I was making the dough I was wary because it was sticky, and not as thick as my usual recipe. However, these do not dissapoint! This is now my second time making them, following the recipe exactly, and they are making the house smell amaing! I've played around with different chips (white, milk chocolate, etc), and every type tastes so good! A new staple recipe for sure!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Delicious! Used 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, and 1/2 cup white sugar. Dropped by generous tablespoonefuls and baked for 12 minutes. These are going into my teacher thank you gifts!
