Things are changing around my house, for the better for sure, but a big change nonetheless! My husband graduated college in early May and had a spinal fusion a little over a week later. He's now almost 2 months post-op and got clearance about 2 weeks ago to start working so he was FINALLY… MORE

I love, love, love a loaf of homemade bread. Probably my favorite thing to bake and they sure don't last long around here - so it's probably a good thing I only bake bread once or twice a month! This is a simple and delicious French Baguette recipe I've used a couple times now. French bread… MORE

It seems like just yesterday I was introducing the "Pawsome Foursome" aka Criminal Mind Brothers (Rossi, Reed, Hotch and Morgan)! Our four sweet foster boys hit the road on Saturday morning with Irina Clow Founder and President of Rotts N Pups and began their homeward journeys! Irina arrived… MORE

This is a super quick and tasty breakfast, and is a french toast/waffle hybrid! I saw it on AllRecipes the other day and thought it looked interesting so we decided to give it a try. It is yummy! The strawberry syrup is great, and the original recipe calls for fresh but I think frozen work… MORE

Kenneth got a new bike on Wednesday - it's a recumbent trike which his back surgeon had mentioned prior to the surgery and Kenneth's been researching ever since. We cleared it with the surgeon for him to start riding one (and he got the ok to start swimming so hopefully he and Kent will be… MORE

On my 30th birthday (ACK!!) which was June 12th that morning I decided to make something "new" for fun, to play in the kitchen a little and enjoy my morning (since my birthday wish list was 99% kitchen stuff, this is not surprising, I am sure!) I can't remember how we decided on pork chops… MORE

This is one of my favorite recipes I discovered on AllRecipes.com and I've made it a couple times now, and the version below is with my modifications to the original which you will find here. This is company worthy, in my humble opinion! It takes traditional lasagna and kicks it up a notch,… MORE

This was a very good recipe, and one that I ended up getting distracted in the midst of cooking, but it still came out great! I love creamy chicken pasta dishes, but hadn't cooked with gorgonzola before but this really sounded delicious and I'm so glad we tried it out! The original recipe… MORE

Yes, seriously... Chocolate Chip Cookie... SOUFFLE!! This was the most fun, different and delicious dessert I've made in awhile. Yes, most desserts taste fantastic, but this one was very unique and FUN (not to mention super quick and easy!) Both of my boys were sold completely and I am… MORE

About Me
I love preparing meals for my family, I grew up eating home cooked dinners as a child, and felt that time around the table was very special. It gives me a LOT of pleasure to prepare something my family enjoys!
My favorite things to cook
I cook with a lot of chicken, we prefer boneless, skinless breasts. I don't think I have a preference for a certain style of food, or ethnicity. I cook mainly simple, meat and rice/pasta/potatoes kinds of meals. I enjoy trying different flavors and fixing new recipes. We enjoy italian, southern, mexican, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
It's sort of a tradition in our house to have biscuits and gravy every weekend, usually Saturday morning. My husband grew up in the South, and it's comfort food! I love preparing a Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner: Roast turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, and cranberry jelly... MMMMM!!!!
My cooking triumphs
I think I was pretty thrilled with myself the first time I successfully made a home-made pizza crust. I am also very good with homemade breads, and very proud of my banana and lemon poppy seed breads!
My cooking tragedies
I have two classic cooking tragedies from when I had just started cooking (age 16) - the first time was when I tried to thicken gravy by adding flour directly into the HOT liquid - LOTS of clumps... it was SOO gross! The 2nd time was when I tried to make my first white sauce, and I just could NOT get the flour to milk ratio right, it was pasty and disgusting!!! I've learned a lot since then, but those are classic OOPS memories!
