I was inspired to begin cooking after reading a book called "Cherries in Winter" by Suzan Colon. I was writing for a newspaper at the time and had this good fortune of interviewing her for a book review. Her prose inspired me to hit the kitchen with great fervor and I continue to explore new and exciting dishes and push my culinary envelope.
My favorite things to cook
Salmon. I can't get enough of it. Other than that, I love mediterranean and italian dishes of all sorts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In the past I have enjoyed watching my parents cook side by side. Each of them have their strengths. I love to watch and smell mom's french bread baking and dad is the master egg cooker, as well as the holder of the secrets of perfect cornbread making!
My cooking triumphs
Passing off sugar-free desserts on my friends and family without them being the wiser!
My cooking tragedies
I accidentally started a mini fire when I left the burner cover on as it heated. Not too much harm done except a bruised ego.
