Twenty-Four Hour Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
Loved this recipe and so did my husband. However, does anyone have any suggestions for spreading the mayo? I had a tough time with that. Thanks!

Coconut Ambrosia Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
My Mother used to make this very salad every Christmas and Thanksgiving. She whipped cream from scratch, but I like going the easy way. There was really very little difference in taste so why go through all the hassle? Besides I once made this for a family gathering years ago (with real whip cream) and forgot to add the sugar to the whip cream. Yuk. That was just one of MY kitchen disasters.

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
I knew I could count on Allrecipes.com when I wanted to find a recipe for beef stew like my grandmother used to make. I prepared it as directed, except for the celery (don't care for celery). Thanks for the memories.

GOOD BASIC CHILI RECIPE. COURSE, EVERYONE TINKERS WITH CHILI AND I AM NO EXCEPTION. I USED ONLY 3 CLOVES OF GARLIC, ADDED GROUND PORK AND CAYENNE PEPPER.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
I'VE MADE THIS RECIPE TWICE; ONCE THE WRONG WAY AND THEN CORRECTLY. **BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS AND ADD THE BARLEY IN THE LAST HOUR; OTHERWISE, IT TASTES STARCHY. VERY FLAVORFUL AND WARMING ON A WINTER DAY WHEN IT'S MADE ACCORDING TO DIRECTIONS.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
NOT MUCH TO ADD TO WHAT THE OTHER REVIEWS HAD TO SAY EXCEPT --- ADD MY FIVE STAR RATING TO THE GROUP! I ALSO USED ITALIAN SAUSAGE WITH THE GROUND BEEF. WHEN YOU BRING THIS DISH TO A DINNER, YOU'VE BROUGHT DINNNER!

Round Steak and Gravy II

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
THIS RECIPE IS VERY SIMILIAR TO ONE I HAVE HAD FOR YEARS CALLED "PORK STEAK DINNER IN A DISH". TRY ADDING PEELED QUARTERED POTATOES, SLICED CAROTS AND A CAN OF PEAS. YOU'LL HAVE A COMPLETE MEAL.

Scalloped Sweet Potatoes and Apples

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
MY FAMILY AND I ENJOYED THIS RECIPE. JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TARTNESS IN THE APPLES TO OFFSET THE SWEET POTATOES. I TOO LEFT OUT THE MACE AND IT WAS FINE.

Barbeque Pork Two Ways

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
I USED THE SLOW COOKER METHOD TO MAKE THIS BARBEQUE PORK. I THOUGHT ABOUT FREEZING SOME OF IT FOR A LATER DATE BUT MY FAMILY ATE ALL OF IT IN TWO MEALS!

Sugarless Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
My husband is a diabetic and it's hard to find recipes for sweets that he likes. He wasn't overwhelmed by these bars but said they were "OK". I LOVED them! Guess you really have to like dried fruits; dates, raisons etc. I couldn't find dates so I used dried apricots. Very moist and flavorful! Thanks.

Tasty Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
Sorry, we didn't care for green beans cooked this way. Even though we like fresh beans al dente. These were too hard at this cooking time and the soy sauce just made them taste like salty, hard beans.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
My husband was growing feathers from eating so much CHICKEN and was getting tired of the same old chicken recipes! To the rescue came "Aussie Chicken"! Great recipe. We both loved it. One note; don't overcook in the oven. It can get rubbery.

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
I have made this recipe twice and loved it! The first time I also had a little trouble getting the bread coating to stick to the sides. That was a little disappointing cause the presentation would be much improved with a nice, over all golden coating. The second time I made it I used a bar-b-que marinade brush and brushed melted butter over the entire head and THEN coated it. PROBLEM SOLVED! Great presentation! My husband LOVES it!!
