Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2015
I guess I will add my 2 cents too. This was delicious. I have made my own before, but didn't taste as good as this. Maybe it's the simple syrup step? Not sure, but it was so good. I microwaved my lemons and used a large bbq tong handle to squeeze the juice out. Made it super easy and almost every drop came out. Thank you to other reviewers for that suggestion. : )

Lemon Pie Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2015
I have never had luck with anything lemon except maybe a cake. The filling never sets up for some reason. I am happy to report that I had great success with these. Some had complained that there was too much crust. Mine had equal crust and filling, which is perfect for my taste. The crust is yummy - flakey and buttery and holds together well when you cut it. I stored in the fridge overnight. In the morning I dabbed the top with a paper towel slightly before putting on the powdered sugar. Seemed to help it not to melt away as fast. I will be making this again.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
Made this exactly as written. My pans are the mini "WearEver" brand. I used my smallest scoop (maybe 1 tsp size?) and it made exactly 24. Baked for only 10 min. and they were done. The pans are dark, so that's probably why they baked a little faster. Used margarine - next time I will use butter. I just like the taste better. My husband thought there was too much sugar on the outside - I thought they were perfect. When it comes to sugared donut holes, I like them to have that crunch on the outside. I just kept popping one in my mouth here and there as I cleaned up the kitchen. I finally stopped after 8.........even then I wanted just 1 (or 2)more. : )

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2015
I have made this twice. Firt time with the pasta type gnocchi (that's all I could find at the time)- this time with the potato type. The potato gnocchi is so much better! Love the dumpling texture. I used fat free 1/2 & 1/2 and I omitted the cornstarch. Even though I used the fat free 1/2 & 1/2 it still thickened up enough. My husband who rejects any green food loved it and even ate the spinach......total shocker. I will for sure be making this again and again. Thanks for sharing!

Harvest Pumpkin Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
I made these for a wedding. I was a little nervous as I didn't do a test run to see how they were beforehand. I got 30 perfect rounded top cupcakes. I had to add about 1C extra powdered sugar to the frosting (I was piping it) and left out the OJ & zest , but added cinnamon. (It's what the bride wanted). They were delicious and I received many compliments on them.

Caramel Frosting VI

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
I would agree with another review - it's a glaze, not a frosting. I have failed making cooked glazes/frostings in the past, so I was a little nervous to try. Turned out great! Oh mama was it good over a apple bundt cake. My only complaint is that it didn't ever really set up. I didn't care though. The cake was eatten the same day it was made. In the future I would make this to dip apples or drizzle over ice cream. Yummy! Thanks for sharing!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2014
This is a great quick weeknight chili. Goes together super fast. My picky 8 year old had 2 helpings! Made exactly as written only didn't have the chili seasoning. Just used a mixture of chili powder & cumin. Chili doesn't have to have tons of ingredients to be tasty. This recipe is a good example of that. Thanks for posting!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2014
As I was buying fresh sprouts for this, I realized that I have never bought fresh - always frozen. Whoa mama......what a difference! I like frozen, but LOVE fresh! When these came out of the oven I couldn't leave them alone. Some of the ouside leaves get a little crispy. So good! Very addictive! Next time I might only use 2T of oil though. I think the same end product could be achieved. Never roasted veggies before. I'm for sure going to be makeing this again and again. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing Lentils and Kale

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2014
WOO HOO! First time trying lentils! I wasn't too sure about this. The salsa was throwing me off. The flavors really came together though. Made exactly as writted except used lower sodium chicken broth. Others have said this was a soup, but mine turned out as pictured. Kinda of thick and hearty. Yummy!!!

Mom's Beef Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
I took the advise of other reviews and left out the salt. I also used low sodium soy sauce. It was perfect for our tastes. We really enjoyed it and I think the longer it marinates - the better it is. Served over seasoned rice. The leftovers were just as good.....maybe even better Yummy!!!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2013
After reading most of the reviews, I wasn't sure how this would turn out. Some said it was like fudge - some said it was grainy or greasy. I found it to be super easy to make with a great texture for piping onto chocolate cupcakes (used a mini pb cup for garnish). I used heavy cream instead of milk because I always use cream in my frosting. Just watched as my stand mixer whipped and added cream till I got the right consistency. Used Skippy creamy peanutbutter. I would for sure make this again. : )

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
I made cupcakes for a wedding dessert table.(Doubled this recipe) My first tray I baked was a total failure (filled 2/3 the way up and baked way over the top of the muffin tin) and I kinda freaked because I didn't have a back up recipe in case this one didn't work. The next tray I just filled 1/2 way and they were fine. A little smaller then what I wanted, but by the time I added the frosting it was fine. I baked about 15-20 min testing after the 15 min mark. Nice & moist. I made the recipe as stated (except for the nuts).I did add 1/4 t. nutmeg to each recipe because I felt it just needed something because I left the nuts out. All & all a good recipe - if you are making cupcakes, just maybe do a test one to see how full you need to fill them. : )

Sweet and Sour Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
Made exactly as written. My husband & I really thought this was yummy. Next time I think I will add some chili flakes to the sauce to give it a little heat as well. Served it with fried rice and a veggie. The sauce thicken up nicely and coated the chicken. I would for sure make this again.

White Chocolate Blondie Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Made this for a co worker for his birthday. Everyone really enjoyed these. Left a corner piece at home for my hubby as Blonde Brownies are one of his favorites. : ) Went together really quick too. A nice change of pace from the usual chocolate brownie. Would be really good with ice cream and a drizzle of carmel!! Yummy!!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
Made this for dinner tonight. Very yummy! Followed the recipe to a T and if I had to change anything it would be to add less pepper. It did say "to taste" so that was my fault. Went together very quick. It would be very good with some cheese melted in as well....maybe next time. : )

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2012
Used Duncan Hines Red Velvet cake and Pillsbury whipped cr cheese frosting. (not very cr cheese taste - didn't have time to make my own though) Let cake cool completely then processed a little at a time in a food processor - pulsing only about 5 times per batch. Only had to use 3/4 can of frosting. Didn't want them to be mushy as other reviews stated. If it starts crumbling when rolling into balls - try washing your hands. Little bits sticking to my hands seemed to make them not want to hold together. Refrigerated till chilled. Dipped in Wilton white bark pieces. For a garnish I took the same bark pieces and pulsed in the food processor and made them into tiny little flake pieces. Let the dipped cake balls harden just slightly then sprinkled on top. So pretty! My daughter is having a "Brave" themed b-day party and wanted to work something red into a dessert because the main character has bright red hair. Worked perfect! : )

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
Did a test run on these prior to making them on a upcoming wedding dessert bar. Everyone loved them. I dipped half in white and half in choc coating (wilton brand) and drizzed a design on top. Made exactly as written and they were melt in your mouth in the middle. I would recommend using quality chocolate chips. They seem to provide much better taste and texture.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
I might as well add my review to the 3000 plus people who love this! I did as well. As one other review stated they were not sure about adding the beer.....I wasn't either as I hate beer. The combination of all the ingredients tasted great! Super easy and delicious.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
I had to submit a review for this. Anything my husband says is "delicious" three times during dinner and twice later that night deserves 5 stars. Very comforting meal on a cold day. Made exactly as writted except substituted frozen peas for canned. I just like them better. Good flavors too. I am a fan of basil. : )

Herb-Glazed Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I have never added anything to my turkey except salt & pepper when roasting. Thought I would give this a try for something different. I liked it! Made exactly as written, except used a 7 lb. bone in turkey breast. Cut the seasonings in half and it worked out perfect. Browned nicely and stayed super moist.
