BBQ Sauce to Live For

Reviewed: May 11, 2002
You may use any barbeque sauce that you want for this recipe. I typically use honey or brown sugar. They also exists many types of duck sauce, I use a duck sauce that is yellow in coloring and tends to have a sweeter taste...the brand I use is "Dai Day Duck Sauce"

Sweet Orange Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2006
Update: 1.Use boneless chicken (bones are a hassle). 2. Marinade the chicken in some soy sauce and chopped garlic. 3. If you want the sauce thicker, add a little cornstarch. 4. Optional: Too sweet? I like sweet food but for those who want to cut the sweetness, a) reduce the OJ and add some low sodium chicken stock or b)add a splash of rice vinegar...however this changes the recipe to a sweet and sour recipe.

Perfect Sushi Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
Very good rice...minus that it was a little water. So, if using a rice cooker, I suggest only using two cups of water versus 3 cups.

Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
Wow! Absolutely Delicious! I made some adjusments due to lack of ingredients and now I will continue to make it like that. I didn't have half and half...instead I used Egg Nog! Delicious and perfect Christmas Substitution. Didn't have brandy used orange juice instead...still tasted great don't know if brandy would have made a difference. Didn't use french bread, used butter white bread instead. Try this recipe and enjoy! Also I didn't prepare overnight, I coated the bread with the sugar mixture on both side and let it sit in the EggNog, egg, and orange juice mixture for 15 minutes. Cooked french toast on the stove top and then cook the left over Egg Nog Mixture seperately and put ontop of French Toast. It was divine.

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
I combined this recipe with "Egg Drop Soup I" and it came out absolutely delicious...I had to try not to eat the whole batch! Here's what I did: Instead of four cups of broth I used two cups of broth and two cups of water. I used 1 chicken bouillon cube and 1/2 tsp of onion powder.

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
Delicious! From reviews before, sugar in the batter is key. Someone also also wondered what it would taste like with rum...well I used 1/4 cup of Dark Meyer's Rum because I am do not own beer...the rum after taste in the shrimp was scrumpcious! A simple orange marmalade knock-off...yellow duck sauce (I use a very specific brand "Dai Day Sweet and Sour Duck Sauce) with a couple of splashes of OJ. Tasted just like Outbacks! I apologize if it doesn't if you make it...its all in the type of duck sauce you use:)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2007
Very good recipe...followed the recipe to a T but it didn't come out like the picture. I also like my cookies a little more dense or super fluffy...guess I am still looking for that perfect recipe. But this one is very good and I will definitely use it again.

4H Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2007
Loved it. The bread was so moist! The only thing I did different was to used one over-ripened banana and added applesauce until I had 1 cup of banana/applesauce mixture. The banana taste was still there. Will definitely use again!

Caribbean Sweet Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2007
A very delightful recipe. i didn't realize that it didn't ask for mayonnaise and it tasted great without it. However, we were in the mood for a mayonnaise based potato salad, so I added 1/2 cup and it tasted wonderful with it too! I omitted the onions. Wonderful recipe, will make again.

Turtle Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
Delicious, extremely rich. I followed all the directions to a "t"...I don't know if this happened to anyone else, so I thought I would warn. M caramel became like a volcano (lifting the cooked top layer)after putting in the caramel and second layer of cake. So beware, it my be a little messy and don't burn yourself.

Excellent Flan and here is an awesome variation! I used liquid egg whites + 2 regular eggs, 2 tsps of vanilla extract, and a can of COCO LOPEZ Cream of Coconut in addition to the the low fat sweetened condense me...oh my god, the cream of coconut made this dish so delicious and creamier. Then I topped with sweetened flaked coconut. Also, I didn't use any salt or melted sugar.
