My favorite things to cook
Anything using fresh ingredients that I know are healthy for my kids. I strive for a balance between a diabetic and heart healthy meal that tastes great.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Watching my kids cook, they get the recipe out make the changes so it becomes healthy and tasty. Then they make a list of whats needed and cook while I sit back and taste. I allow them to make mistakes then show them how to fix it...or we order pizza.
My cooking triumphs
Nobody got food poisoning from my fried chicken attempts. Actually its what I call my 'base'. This can be used as salsa or added to numerous meals. My family and friends love it and it is always a bit different. My latest batch I added banana peppers and it was a big hit. I make up a gigantic batch, divide and use or freeze, this year I am learning to can it. It started as part of my homemade chili and grew due to my test group (family and friends) wanting more. Of course my best friend refuses to eat something that 'leaves a whole in the bowl and eats the ladle', her husband says that's OK and takes her share home.
My cooking tragedies
I do not fry anything anymore but when I did I destroyed the fried chicken every time.

Cheesy Bacon Ultimate Dogs
I saw a picture on Facebook made this without ever seeing this recipe. The only differences is I didn't add mustard or pickles. Plus I put it in the oven at 350 for 15 min.
