Sister Slaw

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
I made a variation of this for Easter Brunch and my family loved it. I used kale, red cabbage, green beans, carrots, and broccoli stem. I also added garlic, black sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. Also only marinated for about an hour. Thank you for the great base recipe that can be tweaked to your own specifications.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
This makes incredible pulled pork. Left out the vinegar b/c my family doesn't like it. Rubbed the meat with Stubbs spice rub and garlic powder before put it in the cooker. Made the whole house smell awesome and tasted amazing in tacos with cabbage, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and chives. Served with carrot apple salad and strawberry rhubarb crisp. What a meal!! Thanks

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
Made this twice in the last week and a half and it is awesome!! I drastically reduced the sugar because I like my rhubarb tart and delicious. Only 1/3 to 1/2 cup in the crumble and a lite sprinkle on the filling. I also added nutmeg, cinnamon, sliced almond, and walnut pieces to the crumble and it really added some nice undertones to the flavor. serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. great either way.

Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 26, 2011
Yum!! I didn't really follow the directions to the t but this turned out awesome. I used steak buns and spread mayo with garlic powder on one side and mustard with horseradish on the other. Used havarti instead of swiss (which I am not fond of) and baked as directed. The flavors matched wonderfully. Thanks!

Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Yum Yum!! These are awesome!! I mixed and made my own sauce out of Stubb's moppin' sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne, salt, honey and Chalula. I also let the ribs sit for a couple of days to soak in the olive oil and Stubb's spicy rub that I had rubbed on them. Cooked covered for two hours and then uncovered for another 40 min. Didn't even need to brown them first. They turned out spicy and delicious!! I will definitely be making these again.

No Tomato Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
I didn't follow the recipe exactly, and I didn't use any chili sauce. That said, this is an awesome guideline to make your own wonderful version of no tomato chili. I used yellow and orange bell peppers, carrots, potatoes, and mushrooms. I also added a little chalula hot sauce since I omitted the chili sauce. I used only 1 lb beef and 1 can beans. Instead of beef broth, I used beef gravy and it was awesome! It tasted great and and was good for me! Will definitely make again!

A little too much spice (chile powder) for my taste and I didn't even use a whole tablespoon. Otherwise a very tasty recipe. Ate with tempeh and veggies. Yum!

Creamy Carrot With Curry Soup

Love the flavor combo. Added a little extra curry. Made with coconut milk and my lactose-free friend thought it was great.--Made this again for my friend and I on a rainy day. It was so delicious and comforting. Great with bread and mimosas.

Cajun Style Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I love the flavor combination of the spices and hot sauce ( Chalula). Not too hot, but still zippy. I used ground pork instead of beef and left out the sausage, which seemed to cut out the grease issue that some people were having. I put a thin layer of Chipotle BBQ sauce on the top before cooking and it added an awesome sweet flavor that mingled in with the spicy of the meatloaf. I will definitely be making this often. Thanks!
