Green Chile Chicken Stew

Reviewed: May 13, 2002
I added chicken boullion and replaced the tomatoes with Ro-Tel. It was absolutely wonderful. After 7 years this is still highly requested. Depending on who's eating it I might leave out the habaneros, regular, mild or hot Ro-tel and always thicken it up with flour and chicken broth. Clears a stuffed nose better that any medication!

Grandma's Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I'm not a fan of ginger snaps but I needed them to go with the pumpkin dip. I've changed my mind these were very good. I will be making them again.

Ultimate Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2006
I added a little cinnamon. I didn't have any trouble rolling them out, they were only in the refrigerator about 45 min. then I dusted the counter and rolling pin with powdered sugar no problem sticking. I did however put them back in the refrigerator between batches.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
I used cream instead of the milk , and I probably used about 8 T. of it. This recipe is very good. If I don't keep my finger out of the bowl I'll end up making another batch. In fact next time I will double it because it doesn't look like enough.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
It's just as good as the name brand cookie. The difference is in the texture and is more flavorful. Will make again.

Caramel Cream Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2006
Good flavor. I didn't make sandwich style cookies, it would have been too much cookie. I frosted them and they were very good.

Strawberry Meringue Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
I have made this recipe quite a few times and I make it exactly as written. I don't understand others problem with having too much batter so they decreased the amount. Most all cakes do rise above the pan. I also do not find it messy. It is a very easy cake to make with great results. Try making first as written. I think you'll be happy.

These bars are moist and the frosting is nice and smooth. It's a keeper except next time I will add more spice.

Spiced D'Anjou Pear Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
This was a very easy quick bread to make. I used a variety of pears and put a mixture of brown sugar and raw sugar on top of the bread. I also made mini loafs which are nice to give to the neighbors. They also freeze well. I will certainly make these again.

Crab Salad III

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2006
By far the best crab salad I've ever tasted. I'm not a big fan of salads with mayo in them, but this was excellent. I followed the exactly except I used bow tie noodles.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I have also done it this way for many years. I put the vegetables on the bottom then the turkey, breast down. According to Wolfgang Puck this lets the juices go through the breast making the white meat nice & moist. Spices and soup according to your own preference.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2006
This gets points for taste and ease in making it. I added about 3 oz. of cream cheese to the whip cream layer and used heavy whipping cream. It was marvelous. I made it the night before and it held up great. I will make it again.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I could only get in 8 cups flour. I'm guessing because the air is so dry. The rest of the recipe I followed and my bread fell! The taste was good. I also rolled out some and made a pepperoni cheese loaf. That was very good. Why would it fall? It was quiet here. Any suggestions?

Chocolate Caramel Nut Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2006
I accidently put the cooking kind of pudding in the milk. It worked, the next morning it thickened up and I added a tad more whipping cream. I used heavy whipping cream , because I think it tastes better. I cut the candy bars at room temp. and had no problem. I will make it again.

Strawberry Pineapple Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
It didn't say if the berries are the whole ones or the sliced ones with juice. I used a combination. It came out good except as it was cooling they fell in the middle. I put a almond flavor glaze on them and they tasted great. I'll try again with just whole berries.

Devil Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
We don't have Devil Dogs where I live but we do have Suzy Q and they are like them.I Doubled the filling using butter as I was out of shortening and put cocoa in half of it and in the white half I added almond extract. After the first batch ,I made the cakes smaller than a tablespoon because they really puff up in the oven. I will certainly make these again!

I didn't understand the rolling directions 6x6 cut 12. So I rolled them and used a glass to cut them in 12. I might make them again. The taste was o.k. but I'll still search for the perfect biscuit.
