Hello all! Well, here it is a new year again. One of my goals (resolutions are no longer in my vocab) this year is to cook dinner at home during the week. It will be a challenge since I work full time, am a grad student and full time mom. I get absolutely no help in the kitchen, I live with two guys who do not like to cook. My hopes in cooking at home more is that we lose some weight in the process:)

So, my plan is to plan and prepare. First week is down and we did ok. Only ate out once this week. Let's see how I do next week :)

Until then,

Good for you, Sonya. What did Mary Poppins say? Well begun is half done? Something like that. It's a noble, healthy and frugal goal, and you're doing great. Well begun!

Cook double and freeze. My mantra. So glad you did when you get home so tired, and there it is just nuke away.

Good for you! Yep - cook and freeze. Also use the menu planner. I shop sales for meat and stock up so that on the weeks that there are no good sales I have the freezer to shop from. I used to eat out a lot & was a 'treat'- not any more. Good luck to you.

My cooking tragedies
When I was 12 years old I decided to surprise my parents and make a potato salad. I thought the recipe said cooked potatoes optional so I did not cook the potatoes. I have never lived that one down to this day!
