Chayote Squash Side Dish

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2013
Lovely! I live in AZ and we have alot of excellent Mexican vegatables at our Food City stores. This squash is very inexpensive and makes a great side dish. Great recipe, the lime juice is especially nice. I don't use sugar in my veggie dishes, but otherwise everything else was good.

Banana Juice

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2013
I just made this and it's fantastic! I was going to make banana bread but didn't have enough ingredients for that so I just made the smoothie. I also didn't have a blender but - no worries! I took a bell canning jar and put all the ingredients in it and shook it vigorously. Voilia! my own hand made blender. Might-ee fine. Yeah! I just used to spoon to scoop out the unblended banana.

Perfect Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
Yummers ! This is a great recipe and very easy. I know it says 6 minutes but it took me about an hour of gentle stirring over moderate heat to get the texture fairly thick. It's not firm but it will go well in a recipe or over ice cream. I suppose it would get stiffer if I would go longer and maybe I will try it next time. Got some rare egg flakes but not worried, hardly noticeable.

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
Yummy! I just made these and they were really great. I have to add, like a lot of people I made a change only I did it because I found I didn't have enough cocoa in the cupboard. Feeling too lazy and wanting brownies too much, instead of going to the store to get more cocoa I substituted some of the Ovaltine I had left. Wow! super good, only beware because the mixture started to foam up a bit and then I had to put a baking sheet under the pan because the mixture started to overflow in the oven. My own fault of course, but still. I will eat these delicious brownies and crumbs by hand as well as on ice cream. Sometimes mistakes make the best treats!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
Wow, this was so good! I just made it tonight because I had a loaf of stale sourdough bread and I couldn't bear to keep looking at it. This recipe is great, and I added some cranberries I had in the fridge instead of raisins and only added three eggs instead of the four. What a nice, delicious surprise for dessert! Yummy -

Cranberry Eggnog Cornbread Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
I didn't have eggnog but used sour cream that I had on hand and they came out very nicely. Initially a little sticky but they shaped up well as I kneaded them a few times on a floured board, and they were easy to transfer to the baking sheet. I liked this recipe very much.

Real Traditional Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
Very nice! I added my picture with the fish plate above. I like these with whole milk yoghurt and jam. Yummy. They are very like Scottish baps, very simple to make and with a plain but good taste. I can definitely see making these very often. I initially made some too thick and had to finish the cooking in the oven, and used a think steel pan to cook them. I would think a thick cast iron skillet would be better for holding the heat more evenly. Very delicious and fun and quick to make and I also appreciate not having the sweetness or the 'American-ized' version.

Tortillas I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
Nice! My first try at making tortillas and true to form allrecipes has offered up another winner. I did pretty well for not having ever made these before. I didn't have shortning/lard so I used the canola oil I had and it went very well. I need to practice rolling them out so they are not so thick but I am very pleased and even just making this first batch I can see improvement from the first ones to the last. I will definitely keep making these. Sweet !

Wheat Crackers

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
Holy cow! my first recipe with allrecipes. Really excellent. I used winter wheat and added kosher salt for the top, lightly sprinkled. Nicely crisp and good taste. I couldn't stop eating them. Awesome!
