I was disappointed with this recipe for several reasons. I followed directions exactly, making no changes but it still came out rather dry and tough. The strange thing is, I baked it for exactly 70 minutes, checked it for doneness, and then when I sliced into it, you could see that it was slighty undercooked. Usually, that would make for a moister cake...but not this time. The frosting/glaze was great, though (if you like brown-sugar candy, you'd like this!). It did not have the texture I was looking for either.

I loved this recipe! Even though I was out of the worcestershire sauce it still turned out great. I added an extra boullion cube to make up for it. In the future, I'm going to try adding sour cream or maybe cream cheese...maybe even mushrooms. A very good, basic recipe that has infinite possibilities.

I thought this was a great recipe! It tasted great, was simple enough for someone who is NOT experienced at making homemade cakes, and it had such basic ingredients that I could "whip" this up anytime, easily. Thanks for the recipe!

This is a 5 star recipe! I usually don't like reviews (especially bad reviews) of recipes that have been changed significantly, however in this case it turned out WONDERFULLY and I truly believe it's because the core recipe was wonderful. I substituted half of the all-purpose flour for whole wheat flour and I "sprinkled" chocolate chips and peanut butter chips on top (to make it more kids friendly, however it probably didn't need it, as well as these turned out). My four children absolutely loved them. I sifted the flours twice to ensure they were mixed well with the baking soda/powder and salt. It only took 18 minutes to cook but I divided them into 17 muffins. I read one review that said they didn't rise well...I think they should check the freshness of their soda/powder, as I didn't have ANY problems with them rising. A quick easy, and inexpensive breakfast!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

Absolutely delicious! Wonderful caramel flavor. I used the chocolate graham cracker crust as another reviewer suggested...loved it. There was absolutely no negative "aftertaste" as one reviewer mentioned. Maybe it was the brand of milk they used? Plan to start this recipe at least 5 hours in advance though, as it takes awhile to cool down even after the pie is prepared.

I'm not sure why anyone would call this recipe "bland" but it's definately not that! Perhaps the ones who thought this bland used a cheaper cut of meat? The beef I used was very thinly sliced, so it just soaked up the flavor. I was very surprised at how well this turned out actually. Tasted almost as good as my mother in laws...but took a fraction of the time to make. Fair trade, I'd say.

Delicious recipe for a quick and easy apple pie! I baked it exactly as the recipe called for except I lowered the baking time to 30 minutes. My only complaint is that the crumble topping was still slightly overcooked. 25 minutes would have been better in my oven, here on the east coast. I may try lowering the oven temp to 375 degrees next time.

I did not enjoy this very much, but in all fairness, I did not follow the recipe exactly because I didn't have any bacon. I like mustard...quite a bit usually, but this was just too much for my liking. I gave it 3 stars because eating it with ranch dressing or barbeque sauce greatly helped the flavor and because I didn't follow the recipe exactly (I would have given it a 2 otherwise).

This was *so* good! For those who don't know, the roux needs to be cooked on medium high heat, till it's the color of an old penny. My oldest son who complains about any and all veggies, said, "Even with the vegetables this was still good." One of the best soups I've ever eaten or made...and pretty low in calories as well!

This was a little more "herbally" than I care for. I'm looking for a recipe that tastes more chili-ish. I may try this again, but next time I will eliminate the oregano and try adding some traditional chili pepper seasoning. I tripled this recipe for my family of 6, (was hoping to have left-overs) but I wouldn't think that would have effected the flavor of the recipe.

This recipe is fabulous! You can add or delete veggies to suit your taste, and it still turns out great. It can be a bit pricey to make, but I've yet to see this dish not devoured!

I made these Christmas 2003, for my Turkish brother in law. I was asking him what he missed about home and what kinds of foods they eat there and he told me that he loved Baklava. I told him I might surprise him one day and make it for him, and he immediately told me it was "very difficult to make. The pastries are so thin and it takes lots of practice to make it properly." Af this point I had never even heard of Baklava, much less tasted it. But thinking it would be the "thought that counts" I decided to try it anyhow. My brother in law was SHOCKED! He said it was just like his mother used to make...and he just couldn't believe that I could make the dough. I never did tell him I used freezer Phyllo dough, lol. (I had never heard of Phyllo dough at this point either!) That being said, if I can make this without ever even have tasted it, anybody can! One other thing, personally I liked it better warm then cool. It was sticky and gooey but oh-so-good with a cup of coffee:)

First my pet peave: I HATE when a reviewer takes a recipe and completely changes it, then rates it...like the person down below did who used 3 different cans of pineapple. By the time that person was doing with the recipe, it was not even the same recipe. Please don't rate a recipe when you've changed it that significantly. Now my review. This is a delicious recipe! However, my kids were not fans of this recipe.

I gave this a 4 star because it was reltively tasty, and very low in calories. I was looking for a fast, low calorie recipe and this fit the bill. I could not find shrimp consomme, so I substituted vegetable broth instead. I usually hate reviews where people change the recipe (especially things that clearly effect the taste) and then review it, but I had no choice in this case.

This reminded me of Oyster Stew. With all of the milk, mixed with the fish flavor. I did not have the lemon pepper or lemon juice, so I added some garlic salt for flavor. I generally hate reviews that have a lot of ingredients changed, but I figured someone might be helped by the fact that I could give them SOME thing to compare this too.

Delicious and everyone raved about it. I added celery, used Bragg's in place of soy sauce, added a big spoonful of minced garlic, and sprinkled it with Ginger. Didn't measure any of it...just added to taste. Overall, this is a great "base" recipe...my favorite kind.

Ate this tonight and it was wonderful! It was creamy and very versatile. I doubled the recipe for my family of 9 and had just a smidge left over. I took about 2 cups of it after I cooked the sauce and put it back on the burner. Then I added a little cream cheese to it, a little bit more half and half, and some broccoli crowns to it just for some variety and "richen" it up. It was delicious both ways! The only thing I think the recipe really needs is a little bit more garlic salt to the recipe...and pepper:) Other than that, this is a keeper and will be frequenting our table from now on! Thanks for the great recipe.
