Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
This was great! But I did add a few extras. I used ground turkey. Browned with onions and garlic. 1 pkg of onion soup mix(from a box of 2- 1ounce pkts). Added a little italian seasoning and black pepper and a little bit of every kind of veggie in my freezer :) Mixed, green beans, corn and okra(yum!) The okra made it awesome-if you like it! :) Also, subbed one can of kidney beans(rinsed) for the macaroni. Turned out great!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
YUM! Used turkey instead of beef and used a packet of Mc Cormick Chili seasoning. Salsa was an off brand you can buy at Kroger called Private Selection Restaurant Style. LOVE it. Has a lot of heat, which I like. Minor changes to a great recipe!

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Husband and I love this! I use cream of chicken, skim milk, 2% cheddar cheese(more than the recipe calls for I'm sure:)) and store brand of French's fried onions instead of breadcrumbs. Oh, and also season chicken with salt and pepper before cooking. Yum comfort food!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
GREAT pie! Got tons of compliments! Only change was to mix apples with the sugar/butter mixture first, then put in crust. Covered with lattice crust and used a little sugar/butter than I reserved to brush over top. YUM YUM!

Baked Brie with Quebec Maple Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Make this once for an appetizer at our Christmas family dinner and now I've had to bring it every year! Love it. I do add a couple Tbs of brown sugar on top and a few pats of butter. Served with various crackers.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Super good but I did change things up a bit. I used the same ingredients but made my own onion soup mix and replaced the red wine with chicken broth. Marinated in a ziploc in the fridge for 2 or so hours. Instead of using a slow cooker(I researched and a lot of people said its a waste to slow cook since it is already a tender piece of meat and baking in the oven was better:)) I browned in a skillet on each side(ab 5 mins total) before baking in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Did not cover. And OH MY GOSH! It was good! Hubs loved it and I(not a huge meat fan) loved it! Served with the sweet and spicy sweet potato recipe here and a salad. Clean plates for both of us!! :)

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
This recipe was the bomb :) I was unsure of it bc I've never cooked eggplant anything. After the first bite my husband said "You could serve this in a restaurant!" and he was still talking about it the next day. I salted(for only about 10 mins) rinsed & dried per other reviews before breading and baking. Only used egg whites for coating to make it healthier. Baked 10 mins each side per reviews. Only used one eggplant sliced thin unpeeled- about 3 egg whites- cup or so of It. bread crumbs and three cups Muir Glen Garlic spag sauce. Layered per directions and baked 35 mins at 350. Perfect!!! Served with creamed spinach!

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
I did not care for this as much as my hubs, but he loves spinach. I'm not as much a fan. Good recipe though and can cater to your own tastes. I have used cheddar cheese(2%), feta cheese, added bacon and tomato...I always always cut down on the egg yolks. Use maybe 2 and only whites for others just to make it healthier.

Steamed Lobster Tails

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
First time making lobster tails and the hubby was impressed! :) Researched and found that steaming was more recommended than broiling. I tried to butterfly them but the shell was too hard to pull back! At least for me. I cut the time to 6 minutes per reviews and turned out great. Served with clarified butter. Great for the first time trying! Will make again!
