Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
This is a fantastic recipe. My friends and I eat this Sunday mornings when we get together. It is best with Texas Toast Bread. We've tried with regular bread, fresh baked bakery bread and Texas Toast tastes the best. My husband prefers it w/o the vanilla so we alternate it. Sometimes with vanilla sometimes w/o. I also add scant 1/8 C sugar scant 1/8 C brown sugar

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
My husband always asks for moist sweet corn bread and I've looked and looked. He ranted and raved about this one. He LOVED it!! My girlfriend calls this corn cake not corn bread, I've made it several times and he ooohs and awes each time so this is a keeper!!

Watergate Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This is my favorite dessert salad. People asked me to bring this so often that I make this for all gatherings I attend now. I have used crushed pineapple or pineapple tidbits, either works fine. I use pecans instead of walnuts. Lastly, I use a whole container of cool whip. The extra creamy cool whip is *really* good in this recipe. I make this without marshmallows for my veggie husband. The flavor is good, but obviously the consistency is different.

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This is the BEST BEST Macaroni Salad EVER!! The only change I make is that I don't use all the sugar the recipe calls for. Every time I take this to a gathering, people always ask for the recipe. My husband asks me to make this frequently and it keeps well. A word of caution; my husband asked me to make this using tomatoes and cucumbers. It tastes good, but breaks down very very quickly and can't be made ahead it has to be made and eaten the same day.

Lena's Pasta Fazul

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
My family LOVES this recipe. I add some kidney beans and don't use as much crushed pepper flakes as the recipes calls for. I've made this over and over since finding it. It is easy and tastes better the next day as leftovers.

Super Fast and Easy Chicken a la King

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This was a very good and simple recipe. My family liked it over biscuits. I will definitely make this again and again. It is easy to make veggie for my husband. I just swapped out the cream of chicken soup with cream of celery and used fake chicken. My husband also likes this over noodles or rice.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
My family LOVES this chili! My father in law said this is the best chili he's ever eaten. I've been married 11 years and this is the ONLY dish he's ever complimented. I have a veggie husband so I leave the meat out of his or use veggie burger.

Black Bean Lasagna I

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
My veggie husband who eats anything.. requested that I not EVER make this again. He said it had an odd taste. He likes black beans and he likes lasagna but he says they don't belong together. I've made other veggie lasagnas and he loves them, but this is a no go. I don't see any other negative reviews but wanted to share our experience. I would not have selected any stars but that was not an option. It made me choose at least one star.

I used this once when I was out of taco seasoning packets and I won't go back to packets. My husband LOVES this mixture. I did modify it a bit. I only use 1/8 t chili peppers and I use 1/8 t heaping of cayenne pepper.

Ozarks Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
I LOVE this recipe. I've been looking high and low for a perfect tater salad recipe and this one is absolutely perfect. My family prefers dill potato salad, my husband prefers sweet salad. I modified this for my husband and added sweet gherkins, 1/4 C sugar and some celery seed. For my family, I added garlic salt and dill pickles. Both batches were devoured. This is an absolutely perfect base recipe.

Tuna Noodle Casserole III

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
I mostly followed this recipe. I used Marzetti frozen noodles instead of the egg noodles. YUMMY! I also followed the suggestion about using milk instead of butter, and it worked fine. I added shredded cheddar cheese to the mix instead of sliced cheese, baked 10 minutes and then added bread crumbs to the top and broiled for a few minutes. This was absolutely perfect. Not too tuna-ee.
