I  realize with a name like Heather Lea Ming, this might come as a surprise, however I must concur with this author:

“I am now addicted to this fried chicken!” Brian said. At least I think that’s what he said. My mind was elsewhere, totally concentrated on trying to snag an extra pork chop without Brian noticing. No, I wasn’t talking to myself. I was eating lunch with Brian McCullough. He owns this website. And he’s a really cool guy. If you don’t believe me, ask Shae.

Getting to Evelyn’s was an adventure itself. Not, perhaps, up there with the adventures of Ulysses, but that was long ago (in 1178 B.C., they say, since that’s when an eclipse described by Homer occurred. See<  ) and far from here. But a fabled trip nonetheless. Long ago (but despite what they’ll tell you long past Homer’s day) when I first arrived in Tulsa, I explored every bit of the Northside. On foot, tramping past little shacks through a riot of vegetation. That was before I got lazy and set my watch back to Tulsa time. So on our way to Evelyn’s I tried to show Brian some of those areas, the little swampy holler just north of Apache near Dirty Butter Creek only to find that they are totally gone, replaced by neat new houses. A lot of fabled barbecue joints are gone too, like Pete’s over on Lansing. And Wanda J.’s, whose Southern cooking is the stuff of legend. Fortunately, Wanda J. Armstrong, the genie behind that place, is still cooking, at Evelyn’s, which is named after her mom, who taught her how to cook
