Recently retired RN, but still help teach Advanced Cardiac Life Support classes.
I'm Owned by three Chihuahuas and a big rotten Silver Tabby cat.
I have an enormous flower garden that I keep promising DH will get no larger. Maybe it won't. The garden has daylilies, iris, roses, and a butterfly garden.
I am greatly enjoying being retired, and cook most of our meals since I have no work responsibilities anymore.
I am the main helper for the teenager grands if they have Math or Chemistry problems, and they expect me to be able to help no matter what. (Mimi has to study too.)
I love to bake at Christmas especially, and share the candy and cookies with neighbors and friends. And doctors. And postmen.
My favorite things to cook
Adapting favorite recipes to vegetarian, but I love to make finger foods (appetizer type) for gatherings, and I really love to bake.
During the years we have been married, DH has learned to not only eat, but enjoy different foods...his mother would never believe he loves dumplings now.
I enjoy trying out recipes that look good on the site, and always read the reviews.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The grandchildren (this year 2 and 4 year old grandsons) come to Mimi's house to bake Christmas cookies. I make a Stollen each year in honor of DH and I meeting in a German class.
The entire family usually comes for Thanksgiving, and I still bake turkey and cornbread dressing even though DH and I are vegetarian. I make a veggie variety for us, and for my 15 YO granddaughter who is also a veggie.
My cooking triumphs
My divinity was light and fluffy even though it was humid, and every time I cook pralines, I have to share the recipe.
My cakes win many compliments.
My cooking tragedies
One cake I made didn't win compliments. (very unusual for me) Oddly enough, my mother baked the same cake the same day, and we both accidentally eliminated the sugar! Bad, Sad, That's a wrap.
